    110W T5 vs 150W HPS?

although I am satisfied with my T5 setup, I would love to see the results if I switched it with a 150w HPS. Also, I would like to know if there is a difference in heat between my 110W T5 and the 150W HPS. Right now the exhaust is just leaving the box and staying in my closet, which is half open, and my intake is drawing cooler air from outside the closet. I have a 4" Vortex hooked up to a carbon scrubber, and as of now my cab stays ~5 degrees warmer than room temp.

    thanks in advance

You will notice a great deal of heat with the HPS as compared to your t-5's. I have 2 150 watt hps lights and 2 2' t-5's in my flower chamber right now.

To give you an idea of how the heat rose for me:
originally i had just the t-5's and the one hps. Temps in my 2x3 flower chamber were some where around 80-82 degrees. when i put the other hps in there the temps soared to 95- 102 degrees!

I would say it is worth it to use the HPS in conjunction with the t-5's. Not only would you increase the lumens inside but with the t-5 & HPS it would be alot easier to control temps.

Plus mary-jane just seems to love HPS lights!

    hope that helps.

IF you have a HPS, definitely use it in flower. On very hot days, just use the T5 if your exhaust is inadequate, or add exhaust.
T5s are perfectly suited to vegging, so keep using it for that stage. Then you can add the HPS later.

If you have at least 3x3 feet of space, you might want to look into a HPS400. Sounds like you are already thinking about graduating to the big guns...

T5's do get surprisingly warm. I have 16 T5's in my 8X4 flower room and temp has been a problem. Also at lowes there is a a little in line control box that you plug into the wall and then plug your fan or water ever into it and it has an adjustable temp sensor. So it only turns on when you raise above a preset temp. They are about $30
