Ebb and Flow reservoir size
Going to be picking up a ebb and flow setup this weekend. Store has a 4' by 4' setup with a 40 gallon reservoir. Is this big enough? Guy at the hydro store assured me it was but from what I've been reading, it should really be closed to the 60-70 gallon range.

40 gallons is fine for a tray of that size. Remember, your media displaces a large volume of water during 'ebb' time.
