Thats a little presumtious what you just said killerweed. I can see us becomming a second rate Country like France or Germany but certainly not third World. America is just waaay too big to be slammed down like that at least in the next 50 years or so. For America to sink that low it would take well over 100 years unless there was some sort of catalyst but as stated above it's just waaay too early to tell if America is in that much trouble. But you guys are right though. This is the begining of a new phenomenon called de-globalization. Personally I think the changes will benefit us because we've gotten way too big for our briches, however, what worries me is how society is going to take these changes. Depending on how drastic these changes and how fast they approach depends on how peaceful this change will be. This is the reason why most changes are evolutionary rather than revolutionary because of the fact that politicians know quick and drastic changes can lead to bloodshed and instability. cross you're fingers.

Such a fascinating era we are living in As I sat here on my desk getting stoned I thought of all the new changes that are about to erupt. The oil crisis, global warming, the conflicts with Iran, America's declining economy and so on and it seems that the more I read up on the news the crappier things are getting. I'm not saying there's gonna be a whole new social revolution or America is going to crumble or whatever, but regardless there is no doubt in anyone's mind not just in America but in the entire World, that shit is about to Rating: 5

Some very good posts here. Humans are consumers. We will always be. The problem is we consume much more than we should. But I think the truth is it ain't going to matter much in the next 50 years. America and the rest of the industrialized nations have consumed too much over the last 50 years and now with some other nations entering the industrialized world there will not be that much left for us which will skyrocket prices. China will be the big dog in this century.China population 1,321,851,888 in July 2007. We have 300 million consumers in the US. Can you imagine when 1 and a half billion people enter the consumer generation what thats going to do?
I forsee a time when we become the 3rd world country and we start supplying the rest of the planet with cheap labor.

I was thinking more along the lines of another World War over the need for more resources.

You said it yourself.. China has a huge population.. and a huge army. It's not too far fetched to picture china waging a war in order to control more resources.

Humans are a very adaptable race and we have overcome many obstacles in the past so i really believe we can overcome whatever is ahead of us as a human race.I think the biggest threat to us is global warming whether or not it is man made is not the point,the point is it is happening and what are we going to do about it.If we dont do anything about it then this earth will be entirely different in the next 50-100 years.

Its funny that you are hot in your part of the world, cause here in my part of the world we're unseasonably cold. Here it is approaching the middle of june and its between 55 and 75 degrees farenheit on average. its crazy and kinda disturbing.
I guess global warming is going to effect different areas in different ways. Should be one hell of a ride for the next 50 years or so.

I agree with you about the adaptability of our species, hopefully it wont get so far as people living in underground complexes or under bubble domes (ever see Logan's Run?) or something like that.
Hopefully as the world begins to turn away from burning fossil fuels the planet will have a chance to heal itself. I think weve done too much damage not to see some negative effects in the coming years though.
