Such a fascinating era we are living in

As I sat here on my desk getting stoned I thought of all the new changes that are about to erupt. The oil crisis, global warming, the conflicts with Iran, America's declining economy and so on and it seems that the more I read up on the news the crappier things are getting. I'm not saying there's gonna be a whole new social revolution or America is going to crumble or whatever, but regardless there is no doubt in anyone's mind not just in America but in the entire World, that shit is about to hit the fan. No matter where you are it seems that everyone has this idea embedded in their mind. They may not think about it all the time but deep down in everyone something big is about to change. So upon sitting here pondering these thoughts I thought it would be interesting to get other peoples input on what is projected to happen in the next 10 to 20 years. I wanna know from you guys what you think the World will be like when we enter this new World?

I think every generation says this. Its about the same as it was 40 years ago. Still lots of civil rights violations in this country, lots of wars on the planets, always some new and imminently deadly terroist leader on the loose. But its usually just the same old rhetoric. We become more desensitized to it as time goes on and just let government take care of it. And then eventually there becomes a time where the people have to step up and take there government back.

The main problem for humanity is the world is becoming more disconnected because of the internet. These technologies that are being developed are created to foster more selfishness for the individual. I think humanity overall is losing the ability to emphatize with another. Maybe I'm just a dreamer and this is the way it's always been, but I think that humanity is becoming increasingly disconnected.

Quit blaming the internet for the worlds problems. They said the same thing about books when they started being mass produced.
The internet is just like a book. Its a wonderful way to get information about a subject. Just because its written in a book doesn't make it the truth but like the internet, a logical person will filter the results.

I wouldn't say its the internet, the internet is one of the last places where free speech still exists. I would rather say materialism and especially the biased brainwashing mainstream media.

If electricity stopped working for some reason, I can see many people just sitting on their couch hoping everything turns on again and eventually die from boredom

I can recall back when the only news available was NBC, CBS, ABC and the local news paper which at that time reported the same story the same way. Now due to the internet we have access for 100's of news stories from our own country and others on the same subject but with various opinions. Knowledge at our fingertips on most all subjects/issues.

The con side...we have a generation of fat kids with bags of chips chatting and playing games instead of getting actual exercise. When I was a kid....home from school by 3:45, homework done by 5:00, out of the door on my BIKE by 6:00, and was riding, sliding, playing ball, etc...untill 9:00. I guess fresh air and interacting with real people isn't that important now. But wasn't it nice of WII to put out a line of exercise games? Now we can drop the commercials about "playing for an hour a day".

    Have a good one!:s4:

Killerweed, I agree with you 100 percent. In almost every generation people talk about doomsday scenarios. I'm not saying my generation is any different or that this time we're really going down because to be honest with you I nor anyone else doesn't really know and couldn't possibly know an answer like that this early in, however, that doesn't stop people from making educated guesses as to what the coming future will entail and how it will affect our lives and the international community. And thats exactly what I was trying to get out of this discussion but so far no one's posted a projection. Everyone is just talking about why our generation sucks. Anyway sorry for the misinformation guys but I really wanted real life projections. Like Worse case scenario's and best case scenarios.

I think our generation is the best one yet. We have access to so much information and technology and things are growing at such a fast rate. Pretty soon some kind of shit is going to have to hit the fan and things are gonna get really crazy. Or maybe something better....like discovering water in the desert or something.
