    Just a quicky please...

    Hi,
I recently germinated some weed seeds i had collected over the years.
They sprouted and have been growing for a few weeks now.
However, they look more like nettles than a cannabis plant!!

They dont have the usually cannabis leaf formation or anything!

They were definately collected from weed, maybe like 5 or 6 years ago.

so, my question is, are this rubbish and should i chuck um, or is there a chance that these could actually be cannabis??

Sorry...I don't do 'quickly' very well, lol. (speed kills, patience heals)

Providing pictures and filling-out the troubleshooting form will likely get you better responses, but with the info you've provided, I'll give it a go...

My first question is...are these a serious project, or just idle curiosity?

Anyway, if you are talking about the first set of leaves that appears, those are cotelydons. (your baby's first leaves) Round in appearance, but the next set of leaves will show the serrated leaf-edge pattern you are used to seeing.

If this is the case, and you have never seen cannabis seedlings, I'm going to take it for granted that you have shitloads of reading to do if you want to bring the plants all the way to harvest. This isn't rocket science, but you will get better results if you know the basics. The search function on this site works, and there is a FAQ section you should check-out.

If the cotelydons aren't what you were talking about...perhaps someone put nettle seeds in your
schwag a few years back.

The first set of leaves is round, thick, and looks nothing like pot. Those are the cotyledons, and they provide food for the plant and capture the first light for photosynthesis.
The next set will have only a single blade, and yup, they look like skinny nettle leaves.
The next set should have 3 blades, and the set after, 5. The baby plant does not have the energy to grow true fan leaves on the first try, so it works up gradually.

    Hi,
the main thing i wanted to know was:
is there a cannabis plant that grows differently (ie different leaves etc)??

sorry for the almost retarded thread, it was indeed some idol curiosity... with a good cause tho.

I have read and downloaded shit loads of info (mainly from this site actually) and should know what to expect. but thanks for the replies and info.

Its just these WERE seeds from my bag, yet seem to have grew some random plant (they look less like cannabis now!! i'll try and take a pic and up load) and now i ain't got a clue what i must have been smoking!

    thanks again for the replies

Mutations DO rarely occur; there are some that have been isolated and stabilized, notably 'dizzy', 'ducksfoot', 'aussie bastard', and 'maple leaf'. However, they are not too common, and the really weird ones are only just now being bred to the point where they are reliably 'drug grade', so it's unlikely you found those in your bag.
Look at peoples' grow logs to see what young seedlings look like.
