i recently read this rumor online from a pretty legit source saying that with the governmets infared technology they can get a warrent to search your place for no paticular reason is this true? And also is it dangerous to switch my cycle from 16-8 to 12-12. I also heard this raises their suspecion.

You should be fine there are more factors to catching someone with FLIR then just by what lights are used. FLIR is for large grows anyway like 2KW+.
