Smoking all week and feeling depressed
Cannabis is known to trigger depression in many individuals. However, the reason behind this is unclear, as depression itself can, in many cases, be controlled by the person. If you're like me, you get depressed when you simply think too much. You know, when you just get done with a nice piece of your headstash when you're all alone, then you just sit there and think about literally everything. I have a negative mindset just by habit, a byproduct of me being raised, and combine this with some rather morbid thinkiing among actual events going on in both life and politics... Just gotta be careful, bro.
Blaze satty, blaze with a friend, blaze with your girl, blaze playing guitar or painting or something... but from my experience, one shouldn't indulge when they are alone.
Try and do something fun when medicating, stimulate your mind with something that interests you. And there is truth in SFGurilla's words; if your depression is persistent even in positive environments, there is another reason besides the pot. If things tend to go wrong, it's not really appropriate to smoke to just feel better... combine that with being alone, and it's just what I said before.
But since I'm starting to go in circles, I'll just stop right here before I ramble any longer. Don't mind me, haha...

Smoking all day every day is a habit and no longer enjoyment, over indulging with anything is going to have a not so good effect on your well being.
A little of what you like is ok, to much of a good thing is bad for anyone.
So my advice to you dear chap is take it in moderation.

Well, the depression is gone. And I haven't smoked in three days, so I guess I'll just follow the bolded advice there in a week or two.

It's been a week, I feel great again. I'll start smoking soon. I think my problem (as someone loosely mentioned) was that I wasn't really having any fun. I was just using weed to fill up time.
Thanks for the posts!

Well... sometimes i think the weed-induced depression is a phylosophical one, rather than a clinical one... like... weed makes one realize the uselessness, the emptiness of things... in last instance, everything we do is void, is illusion, as several religions states it... but most time we are not aware of it, so we live without thinking about it, we do things, we believe things, as if they were important. But then one smokes, and realizes nothing is actually important, and it makes one sad.

I"ve heard that weed changes the way your brain releases dopamine. From personal experience, low dopamine levels can definitely cause depression. To counter this you could take an L-Tyrosine supplement, which is a precursor to dopamine.

I have mild ADD and am on Vyvanse (l-amphetamines, like Adderall); I noticed that it seemed to deplete the dopamine in my brain and I would crash in the evenings. I took L-Tyrosine and the problem went away.

hmm, you are saying you are now depressed because you stopped smoking? I understand that completely. Sad state.

Wallowing in mud is fine for a bit but there are things to do so do it instead. The choice is there with or without the cannabis.
