How to get your buds nice and fluffy
this is what i do, and my buds are nice and fluffy, i hang them bout a week (in the dark), then a few days more i hang till the stems feel like they might break if i snap them, i do not lay them down to finish, i then put them in jars and open the lids a few times a day for lets say five minutes or so. then i seal them after a week. the buds in jars for very long i check on them to make sure no mold when i remember. Good luck

How to get your buds nice and fluffy
maybe it depends on how long I hang dry them for???
hmmm
I wish i could show you the two types of buds i have acquired recently and show you guys the difference between softness
on is squishy and sorta inflates back to its original shape over time
and the other, well, just sorta crackles and snaps
but both are EXCELLENT in quality so i guess its just the way they cured it?
perhaps one was over-dried?

How to get your buds nice and fluffy
I think the density of bud depends on the genetics and how it was grown. Not much you can do to fluff a dense bud. If you have fluffy buds you could compress them when they are almost dry, but I wouldn't know why anyone would do that.

How to get your buds nice and fluffy
One thing I've noticed is, that the lower the light intensity, the fluffier the buds. Likely, even if your main cola is rock-hard...the lower (secondary) buds are light and fluffy. (unless side-light is provided throughout flower)
Tried growing with 4' fluorescents a few years back, and all of the buds were very light and fluffy. I purchased a 400w HPS's and the same strain provides large, rock-hard buds that take forever to dry and cure. Same strain, (Swazi Skunk) same soil ,(Miracle Grow) and same ferts and micro's, same schedules.

i think i know what you mean about that kushy feeling that the one buds give i havnt finished a grow yet about 2 month out from harvest but of the bags iv baught it seems that the fresh (as in just takin out of the curing jar are more fluffy from the moister and air that is in it still as time gose on say a month or two sitting in a bag or even an air tite jar but with fewer buds the moister is lost also losing air at the same time is the same thing if your drying a rose mid dry theres still moisture and it probebly would be very airy but as the drying prosses continues the buds get crispier and crisper to the point that you dont even have to buy a grinder (cha ching) buy more bud =)
correct me if im wrong i know this might not make since but just smoked a fatty and im answering to the best of my abillities i can
so yes i would think that you might be over drying the buds well not so much over drying more or less drying past your taste others may like super dry

Genetics and grow style.
Overheated grow rooms produce fluffy, stringy, hermi-filled buds.
Strains bred for humid or rainy climates produce fluffy airy buds.
Pure Indis produce dense nuggets under adequate light and correct temps.
You want fluffy but in good conditions, grow a sativa or a humid-weather strain like Island Sweet Skunk.
