First off, ANY doctor can recommend (not prescribe) cannabis. Your doctor can, but likely won't. (Mine won't and he admitted to me that he used it in med school!) So, the next thing you do, is ask for a copy of your medical records. Mine took about a week or so to get to me.

Next, California's NORML site has a list of cannabis friendly doctors. Their prices vary wildly from about $85 for the cheaper clinics, to about $250 for the rural doctors (where they are the only game in town). Call them early, since there is often a month long waiting period (at least, for those in the boonies, like me there is).

Now scrounge together the money- that's the hard part-then go in armed with your medical records. From there on, it's pretty much a standard doctor's visit. You get weighed and all that jazz, the doctor talks with you about using cannabis, smiles and leaves. You pay the receptionist and she hands you a piece of paper saying "You are now legal to grow 6 plants and hold 8 ounces." If you have a legit medical problem, that's all that's to it!

START GROWING! Soil, organic, CFLs work for lighting. Hit the grow forums. Even bag seed can give good results if well cared for. I'm glad you have found cannabis- and C.com.

Now it is likely that your doctor knows little about cannabis, except for what the med school said (government BS)- and in Canada, where medical cannabis is kinda legal, the doctors are "man enough" to admit that they learn most of what they know about cannabis comes from their PATIENTS! I imagine that American doctors are in the same boat- no real knowledge except what we tell them! So do your doctor a favor- turn him on to the link below. (You might find it an interesting read, too.)

Lastly, welcome to the ever-growing (pun intended) world of cannabis!
