Count yourself lucky you were in Maine. It's only a misdimeaner here. If it were a state with harsher laws you'ld be in a lot of trouble. From what you said, I am guessing you are under age (In Maine 18). That is why they called a parent, they have to legally, especially as you are not residents of Maine. How did you get caught?
