My new Volcano is not getting me high...

Hello everyone,

As the thread title explains...I have a problem, a big problem. I bought a used Volcano classic yesterday and.. I am underwhelmed but obviously there's something wrong so I need help to find out what the problem is.

First, I smoke alot, so I do have high expectations. Particularly given what people say on these forums and others.

I got the volcano at 2pm yesterday and spent the rest of the day until 2AM almost uninterrupted smoking it...I never really got that blazed though. Granted, our pot wasn't amazing and we didn't have that much of it so the Volcano bowls weren't very big (I'd say about .4 grams or so), but if we had smoked that in my bong, I feel that we would have gotten higher. THAT SAID, I absolutely loved the taste of the hits, and the "high", if you could call it that, I liked much more. My guests, who weren't as frequent smokers as me, definitely did get baked, but again, I think the same amount of smoking in a bong would have blasted them alot more.

So this morning I got up and before class I vaped a bowl, 3-4 bags, but it was even worse than last night - I couldn't even feel anything, but I felt like the Volcano wasn't heating up as much. In any case I had to go to class so I left.

After my last class of the day, I went and picked up some dispensary weed which is 100x better than what we had been smoking for a while. I figured $500 volcanos go well with $400 ounces. In any case, got home, and I've been trying to get the Volcano to work for the past 1h30...it seems like it's not getting as hot...my roommate and I ended up vaping at 9 when it definitely did get hot, but I couldnt see the slightest bit of vapor whereas last night I saw SMOKE at 6, 6.5 settings.

I'm wondering.. the volcano did fall from a low table onto my soft carpet last night - could this light fall have fucked it? Is there a way I can tell? How hot is it supposed to feel if you put your fingers above it? Mine gets very hot at 9 if your fingers are very close, but not really that hot any further from the mesh surface.

thanks for your help, I wonder if my machine is fucked or if vaping really isn't for me.. which would suck.



EDIT: I just unloaded the weed that had been packed in the Volcano, about 3 bowls so 1gram of pot, and packed a bit into my bong.. I've killed about half the bowl, so 1/6 of what was in the volcano, and I'm blaaaaasted. this is top grade california medical grade produce.

BTW even after 3-4 "bags" from the volcano the pot is completely green and obviously still has all the THC.. so my Volcano isn't getting hot enough? Any ways I can test this?

Seems pretty obvious to me that you aren't vaping at a high enough temperature. Also, vaporizer highs are more of a head high, not much of the body buzz that one gets from smoking. Lastly, different herb needs to be vaped at different temperatures, depending on how it was cured etc.

issue now is: how can i make sure my volcano is broken?

Not sure about what warranty is included with volcanoes, but you could open it up and look inside. If it has a warranty, maybe call them up and ship it back. I've seen on a forum somewhere pictures of an opened volcano after at least a year of use. They just wanted to clean it, but maybe you could spot a problem yourself...

Other than that, see if your friends get as high as they did the first time when you test it again...

At a setting of 6.5 (about 385 F) you should have excellent vapor output and brown leftovers. Getting vapor in the bag but having green leftovers doesn't make sense to me. They have had a problem with a certain number of units (a particular production run maybe?) getting a bad kink in the internal tubing and restricting the air flow, but I have no idea if that's your problem. The Volcano Classic has a 3 yr. warranty. Take advantage of it. You can contact them in the US or Germany.

Personaly thats why I dont vap that much, it sounds like your volcano is having trouble but on the same note, vapes just dont hit like smoking. A simple Zigzag and a match is what you need

It sounds like your volcano is broken. I've never turned mine up past 7. If you weren't getting vapor at 9 somegthing's wrong. Its definatly a different high but in my experience the weed goes a lot further in the volcano than any method of smoking. That being said I haven't used mine in months. Not because it doesn't work. It just doesn't satisfy the urge when I feel like smoking. I consider myself a conosuer and I don't feel like I get the full experience of a given strain with it. The only time I use mine is if I'm sick or have sub-par product that I don't enjoy the taste of. It also works great if you have some shake or uncured buds.
