so, after smoking up today, i was flipping through the satellite radio, and for some reason i stopped on a jazz channel, on a whim if you would. And i realized that jazz music is rather crazy sounding to the ears, it is excellent, pleasing, yet unrelinting.

the rat-tats of cymbals, and the sharp bass notes, mingle with the smooth piano, its a ride all on its own.

anyone here into jazz tell me where to look for some great stuff to listen too.

for starters check out some john coltrane, thelonius monk, louis armstrong, duke ellington, oscar peterson, herbie hancock, charlie parker, and miles davis. all great.

For starters?! That is a lot to throw at him

I'd suggest the Miles Davis album "Kind of Blue". Pound for pound one of the best jazz albums ever. And you can't go wrong with Oscar Peterson :jointsmile:

If you are looking for one killer track, check out "Kim" by Charlie Parker.

i love playing that tune, the charlie parker omnibook is fricken awesome if you're into playing, most of the solos are all written out, you can learn a ton about bebop just thumbing through the damn thing.

im also into herbie hancock as well, i find his style to be pleasing to the ears
