    Oh no, hermies

Well, I found out that two of my three females were actually hermies. I realized this when I notice there was pollen all over a lower shade leaf. I washed it off with water along with the buds that were within close proximity and directly below. This somewhat sucks because now I will have to check my bud for seeds.

Although, now I have a good chance for feminized seeds. Which will be nice because my next grow will be scrog. If I do end up with more hermies, I'm not too worried. Because these first two grows are mostly experimental. Then after my second grow I will probably go to an actual strain off a website.

So for now I will be checking my plants every day and plucking any male parts that I find. Hell, I'll probably look through them several times a day. This has been a great experience and has been very fun. Every day the buds look to be fuller and fuller, it's hard to not pluck one and smoke it to see how it's doin so far. I'll probably end up doing that, but only as a test to see how good this strain is. Then if I don't really enjoy it I'll probably order some before I harvest so I'm ready to move on to my second grow immediately.

Does anyone know how long it takes a male flower to mature and blow it's load all over the place? Sucks that the female flowers don't mature as fast.

You might want to start tracking down the reason for your plants turning hermie......so you can fix it BEFORE your next grow and don't end up with the same problem in the future.

    Oh no, hermies

I plan on redoing my entire cabinet for my next grow.

What happened in this one (forgot to mention) is the lights fell on some of the plants several times during the grow. One of the hermies is a plant that the top was broken off of and the bulb layed on top of it until I got home from work and noticed it. I have that fixed for now and will fix it properly when I harvest. So I'm pretty sure that's why I'm having the hermie problem. The plant that is not hermie appears that it was not one of the ones that sustained falling light damage.

Thanks for the concern though.

    Oh no, hermies

Well, it turns out only one of the plants went hermie. The other two have a bunch of pistils, but the hermie is mostly some green pointy lookin things. They don't look like the round male parts I've seen pictures of. Should I just chop this plant, or will it still produce some THC? I really can't see much for trichs, although the main kola is huge.

If I do get rid of it, I suppose I will plant another plant or two in it's place and grow it under 12/12 until harvest. Then I will switch to veg mode which should still be before the plants hit sexual maturity.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jay

whats funny is I had 3 plants, 2 turned out to be male one female, and lights fell on mine too, and the one that it fell on, still turned out female, and it was the one that got damaged the most.

I don't know how mine turned hermie, my cabinet seems pretty light proof. ALthough, right now I'm just trying to figure out if I should chop it or not. These things seem to be flowering for a very long time. I'm guessing they are sativa. I need to order some indica, but kind of sketched out on how secretive it is.

I chopped the plant yesterday and now it is drying. I would have chopped it earlier but I just wanted to see what happened. This is my first grow, so I'm mostly just seeing what happens to these plants even if I do have a misfortune with them.

I did smoke some of it already and it was a very relaxing high that worked very well for getting rid of my headache. I just through some buds in the mic for a minute and a half and they were dry enough to smoke. They are a smooth smoke with a decent taste. So for the plant being somewhat of a dissaster (as some may see it) I'm still satisfied with the knowledge I've gained from the experience along with the slightly potent bud it produced, which turns out to be perfect for medicinal use with headaches so far because the high still leaves me very functional just slightly relaxed.

definitely look further into light leaks. They can be very small and still be shining directly onto a plant. I was sure in my first indoor i had none, and sure enough i did.

Oh yeah it may be hard to get into the cabinet to see if light is getting in the grow space, so you may want to make the room the cabinet is in dark, and when the cabinet lights are on, see if any light is escaping. This works.
