    Water Quality

A friend of mine whose opinion I trust says he always uses a reverse osmosis water purifier. But when I went to the hydro store the woman who helped said that I really don't need one because the water in my area is real good. I let her discourage me from buying one. Now, one week into my grow, I'm having second thoughts. I'm fairly new to growing but still very picky. I want very much to optimize the quality as well as the yield. I would really appreciate any input on how important purifiers are. My tap water is 40 ppm. I have 16 Hindu Skunk plants in a 4x4 flood table with 1000w hps/mh. I will run CO2 when I start flowering.

P.S. Has anyone grown Hindu Skunk? (Hindu Kush x Skunk #1) Any comments or advice here would also be much appreciated. I was thinking of doing a SCROG grow. Thanks

a RO unit will take your tapwater ppm from your present 040, to about 002 (at least, mine does) ... most importantly, it will remove the chlorine from a city water supply ... chlorine will NOT harm your plants, but it will kill beneficial bacteria that do help your plants ... BUT, then you will have to add CalMag+ to make up for the removed calcium, magnesium, iron, etc... ... it's a 'cost' decision for most people ...

if you live where theres hard water it woulds benefit you but if you have soft water you probably would be wasting you money i live in the uk so have hard water i would like to use a RO filter but its not top of my list of things to get to enhance my growing power
unless you have water that needs filtering before you drink it wouldnt spend a fortune on purifying your water it would benefit you, probably jus not that much
they basically take out all impurities leaving you with near enough pure hydrogen and oxygen so you may need to add some stuff to it for ya plants to grow better
