I didn't know where to post this. so here we go.

I wanted to try some other things to mix with my water fix the high in ph it has in it.

I do have a ph test kit. but they can get costly.
so I mixed just a little bit of HEB sparkling water beverage with a gallon of water and the test came out at 6.1-6.3 ph.

which I am told is a good ph for UR water to be at.
and I tested like around 4 times to make sure that it was the same each time.

the tests I did came out the same as when I tested with the ph up and ph down.
and I only had to use around 2 teaspoons to around 1 gallon of water.

and the HEB sparkling water beverage is 1 liter Vs 237 ml each the ph up/down is.

so will this work good enought to water my plants with?

thanks for some info on this.
damm I love the hell out of this site.:hippy:

I'm a soil guy but I think your pH should be mid to high 5s right?

And let me get this straight, you already have pH up and down but you're looking for alternatives? Why?

I wouldn't use any beverage to lower my pH, but that's just me

i not sure how it would hurt the plant, its just carbonated water, i mean plants love molasses and sugars and shit from multiple animals... if it effectively lowers the ph give it wirl, im sure it will work. let us know though

That's not going to be stable. You're just adding carbonic acid. There's an equilibrium between carbonic acid and dissolved CO2 gas, further affected by air and water temperature and the water's ability to hold dissolved gases. It will air equilibrate over time and go back the way it was.
Just use your pH down and get your hydro pH right around 5.9. This is another example of where re-inventing the wheel is going to make your life harder. It's like the analogy I told you last week about a different issue- if you don't understand the whole mechanism by which a process works, in this case, basic water chemistry, just follow the directions written on the bottle.

thanks for the great info stinky.

I also found some old ph down I had way back from my first hydro grow. so its like around 3-4 years old. is it still good enought to use.

Sulfuric or Nitric acid (appropriate strong acid to lower pH in plant food) doesn't go bad if kept capped. Yes. It's still good.
