DNC Superdelegate Puts His Vote Up For Sale

Steven Ybarra Wants $20 Million For His Vote
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CBS13) ― In this tight battle for the Democratic nomination we've heard a lot about the candidates courting superdelegates.

But, one superdelegate is courting the candidates. He says he'll sell his vote for a price. A very high price: $20 million.

Steven Ybarra of Sacramento says that eight-figure price is peanuts for the presidency.

When asked whether it was right to offer what is clearly a quid pro quo, he responded, "yeah, absolutely. People do it all the time," answered Ybarra.

But not like this. Not in public and not for such big bucks. It begs the question: Is he crazy?

"Nobody's said I'm crazy," said Ybarra.

Ybarra wants every cent of the $20 million to go towards registering and educating eligible Mexican-American voters, who he calls the key to the White House.

"And I keep asking the question of the DNC: 'why won't you earmark money for these voters?' And their answer is, 'oh, we can't do that' Which is a lie," said Ybarra.

With the Democratic National Committee saying 'no,' Ybarra waits for a 'yes' from already cash-strapped Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

Would he accept less? How about $5 million?

"No, $5 million is nothing," said Ybarra.

It might be a moot point as neither campaign has come calling.

"No, I think most people right now are looking at this as some crazy guy in California because after all I'm from California," said Ybarra.

He thinks his own party is crazy for not aggressively pursuing the Mexican-American vote especially with such a large Mexican-American population in the southwest.

"We should kick John McCain's a** in his own hometown," said Ybarra.

This superdelegate thinks his vote would be the best $20 million a candidate could ever spend. After all, he says, in 2004 John Kerry spent $1 billion to lose.

I don't think this is corrupt at all, all he is doing is asking for money to help mobilize a large portion of voters, and he is saying that the candidate that does this will get his vote because he deems this issue as important. If he was asking for the money for himself, then of course it would be corrupt. He is doing what is best for his party and what would give the Democrats the best chance of winning the white house.

    I found this:

    Selling Your Vote is Illegal

    News Release
    Issued: August 19, 2000

OLYMPIA ā?? The Office of the Secretary of State today reminded Washington voters that it is illegal to sell your vote.

The reminder comes in light of two recent attempts by Washington residents to sell their vote in the upcoming elections on the popular auction website eBay.

Some may think the auctions were pranks, but State Elections Director Gary McIntosh said, "This is no laughing matter. The law is quite clear and we take that very seriously." McIntosh adds that it is also against the law to purchase someoneā??s vote.

After the Secretary of Stateā??s Office contacted eBay officials and informed them that selling a vote is a gross misdemeanor in Washington state, they cancelled both auctions. eBay also promised to filter such sales to assure that any future attempts to auction a vote are also removed.

Elections officials in both counties where the sellers live were notified of the attempted sales. It is the decision of county prosecutors to pursue any criminal prosecution.

RCW 29.85.090 states "Any person who solicits, requests, or demands, directly or indirectly, any reward or thing of value or the promise thereof in exchange for his or her vote or in exchange for the vote of any other person for or against any candidate or for or against any ballot measure to be voted upon at a primary or special or general election is guilty of a gross misdemeanor punishable to the same extent as a gross misdemeanor that is punishable under RCW 9A.20.021."

Gross misdemeanors "shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for a maximum term fixed by the court of not more than one year, or by a fine in an amount fixed by the court of not more than five thousand dollars, or by both such imprisonment and fine."

Wow. That's pretty freaking corrupt. I hope the bastard gets arrested.

And I love how some of the Dems are just lovin' the steady flow of Mexicans that are coming into our country illegaly. Of course they want them legalized, it's more votes for them! Let's take adavatage of the fact that a number of these illegals are coming here to suck off the American Governments giant teet, AKA welfare.

Which reminds me, people on welfare should not be allowed to vote. Were allowing these people to vote themselves more welfare.
