looking to get a $150-$200 vape
Looks like I'll be getting a herbalaire. I like how the pump is separate and is actually a pump and not a fan like the vapir one. A fan just can't produce the pressure to fill a bag without wasting. Does the pump take a long time to fill a bag?

The Herbalaire's pump takes about five minutes to fill a bag.

Is it possible to upgrade to a higher flow pump and not cool the element down too much? What about turning the temp up and having two pumps inline?
EDIT: And I don't mean inline like in series, but connected through a Y connector. I know that may be too much flow but it might be something to experiment with...

I'm sure that a stronger pump, or using two, would fill the bag faster, but it would probably have too much air and not enough vapor. It could also blow hot herb up into the bag. I wouldn't try hooking up two bags and turning up the temperature, either, due to the risk of burning out the heating component(s). Two standard bags of vape are enough for me in one sitting with the Herbalaire, but If I needed to vape multiple bags I'd consider getting an additional unit.

also, you'd need a REALLY beefy heating element if you were going to put a bigger fan on one of those things. When I pull from my whip vape (Digital, I have thermostat and actual temp gagues) It'll go from like 195c (or wherever I have it set, I start at 180c and move up by 5 deg every so often til about 210c) down to 160 or so. That's when I stop pulling because THC won't effectively vaporize at less than 175c or so (yes, it'll break down and combine with fat at like 75c but it won't vaporize into the air readily).
But my point is that you'd need to beef up the entire system to fill bags faster and that's probably not the best way to go and in the end, will probably cost you as much as 2 units anyway.

Do the bowls have a screen on the top and bottom or is it open? In the picutres I saw it looked like the bowl was just a empty tube with no screens.

I don't have that model but my whip vaporizer has a screen to hold the herb in the right place. My old school conduction vape on the other hand does not have one because there is very little air run over the herb.

My guess is the screens are in the device rather than in the tube.

Lol I am aware of that, I have a vaporbrothers I am not completely oblivious to vapes. I am very much aware of the difference between conduction and convection, if you even consider a conduction vape a vaporizer. I am asking specifically to the herbalaire "crucible" does it not have screens on the top and bottom?

The crucible has a screen on the bottom only. The main mouthpiece also has a screen on its bottom, so the herb is trapped between two screens. I've added another screen to the top (just below really) of the crucible when I only had loose herb to load. The screen on the main mouthpiece isn't as fine as the crucible screens, and you don't want finely ground herb working its way past the mouthpiece screen and into the bag. This vape, more than any other, is very efficient with pieces of broken off bud. It gets fully cooked without grinding or breaking into tiny pieces. It does great with ground herb as well, it just gets messy (thus the extra crucible screen) and is not necessary at all.

Thanks thats good to know. I always spend atleast 5 minutes just breaking up bud finely enough for the vapir one. I'm getting really excited about this vape, I just have to sell a couple things on ebay so I can afford another toy. BTW If anyone is interested in a XFX Geforce 6800GT I'm letting it go for $80 shipped. I got it on 4/18/08 from newegg for $90, but it doesn't have a feature that is important to me that my current card has, "play video fullscreen on tv". I'm trying to sell it first on another forum I am part of and have a reputation on.
