CFL Reflector?
I read the el cheapo lighting sticky and I've decided for my first grow that I will take "psteve's" advice and use the clamp lamp with four cfl's. In the post he mentions a reflector for this setup but never elaborates more on it. Has anyone had any success with a homespun reflector for this setup? Does anyone have any ideas? BTW, my dimensions for the box are 2' wide by 2' deep.

Seriously? There's that many people lurking these boards and not one with a clue on this?

CFL Reflector?
Well, since no one wants to give me any input on this idea, I've decided to just paint the inside of my cabinet flat white. I planned on having a daily grow log, but the lack of help is making me a little reluctant to do so. It's not like I'm being lazy here, I've been all over these boards looking for a homemade cfl reflector design and have yet to find one.

IMO, you're a lot better off using good reflective surfaces on your walls than trying to make a reflector. If you're really concerned about losing light in that way, just buy four 10" clamp lights (they come with a very good reflector) at Wal-Mart and put Y-sockets in. You can get about 13000-14000 lumens out of that type of setup, and it will run you less than $70 total. Ideally, you'd have another two lights hanging between plants for under canopy coverage. It makes a huge difference with CFLs.

CFL Reflector?
I stopped by a home improvement megastore today. They told me that a semi-gloss white would reflect more light than a flat white. Anyone have experience with this?

If you Read and Search The boards You Will Find your answers there. That is the main reason no one is responding... dont bother with the reflector. just get a white room...i used to grow with them. read the boards you will find pics of the same grow setups

Semi gloss paint can cause hot spots. Use the flat white.
You can make a reflector out of an aluminum turkey pan from the grocery store. If you want to get fancy, use some white enamel spray paint.

Go to your local sporting goods store and buy one of those emergency blankets. They are a highly reflective thin sheet and work very well for me.

A grower's most important intangible tools are patience and creativity.
Economy sized coffee can. Tinsnips. Flat white spray paint. Go ahead... INVENT!
