Yeah, I TYPICALLY go there, when I am BzzzzZzZZ so, yeah, I re-visited my brainstorm while grounded and realized that for me to accomplish a GREAT grow room, I need to focus on the setup/process before creating something larger-than-life. So I have re-prioritized myself and COMPLETELY committed myself to raising the Dames I have now.

Yeah, the WOOD room is the LARGER area I mentioned. This is turning into a VERY interesting Venture. Fun but interesting. And the room my sprouts are in now is NOW dubbed the Veg room.

You mean like the big rolls of paper Painter use? Not sure where I would locate that.

The Dames are growing steadily, Some of the earlier planted plants have been passed or caught up with in size/leaf production. I guess this is strain dependent.

What I HAVE recognized through observation is:

Whether or not you can INDEFINITELY identify a strain by appearance at this stage is arguable, but I CAN definitely tell that from BAG SEED all of these Dames have something different to distinguish them.

Some have spear-shaped leaves, some have some-what rounded leaves, some have long leaves some have shorter leaves, some spread their leaves in more of a TABLE method, some FOLD their leaves. What I have been searching HIGH & WIDE for is the level of vegging and/or maturing from seeding towards flower that a plant must reach for ONE to have INDEFINITE strain tendencies displayed?

And BELIEVE me, I am not talking about INDICA or SATIVA traints here, I am speaking of the STRAIN specific tendencies. I.E. Grandaddy Purple would show WHAT characteristics while young?

Follow me? I hope so. (even though I'm pretty lifted right now)

At any rate enough babbling from the peanut gallery:

Dame #1 my eldest and strongest

    My 2nd strongest

    Side by Side

    Here is the TABLE look

And a shot of my 4 best.

so far so good from what I can see, but I do have a couple tips/questions. Do you have drainage holes in the seedling cups? also since theyre clear you might wanna cover them up with foil or duct tape if you havent already. Roots dont like light. You wanna get a really strong root base while theyre young to increase health and vigor later on.

As far as strain characteristics its really hard to tell the actual strain at such a young age. Even later on during flower it will be hard unless its a really obvious type with strong traits. Either way trying to figure out what strain the bagseed your growing is a toss up. Even if you got the seeds from the same bud it can still exhibit phenotypes which will confuse you and make you think the seeds are all different strains. Is a name really that important? just be patient and they will tell you who they are.

Hope you kinda understand that bit about strains, been reading my DJ shorts breeder book so if you wanna know something else I can look it up for ya.

Yes, there are drainage holes in the containers.

I am going to attack the 'clear' issue this morning.

No, don't mistake my curiosity for lack of understanding. I TOTALLY know that the plants will BECOME what they are PROGRAMMED to become ( in optimal conditions ) BUT, I was wondering if during the Veg stage they could POSSIBLY display ANYTHING. I guess not, thank you for the clarity.

I WILL be patient as I always am. All I have been doing lately is providing the basics and watching them grow. And I am not concerned about the NAMES of this first try, I will be doing a NAMED strain soon enough.imp:

Thanks for the input, I value the feedback.

Tech! Glad to see your ladies are prospering. It seems like you are assimilating the grow information very quickly. I look forward to continuing to follow your log. Your plants and mine are about the same age. They are close in size, but my first set of lower leaves are yellowing due most likely, in my uneducated opinion, to nutrient burns from adding nutrients too early as well as the fact my lady is in Miracle Grow soil already. I am assimiliating the great information here too, just not as quickly or well as you.

Thanks for sharing your log - I will continue to follow it.

Thank you for the encouraging words:thumbsup:. And yes, that is a GIFT (or a curse) to be able to know very little about a subject, jump on the Net, do a little research, and viola! I understand the BASICS. That, and the KNOWLEDGEABLE people on this site are AWESOME!

    Now, to the Dames:

    Here is Dame #1

    And Dame #2

So far so good:thumbsup: I am satisfied with the progress thus-far. Also, Dame#2 is starting to reveal a Skunky aroma

The remaining Dames are progressing nicely as well, but I don't feel the need to flood my Log with ALL my images. Dames #1 & 2 are my oldest plants.

Thanks again for the support/compliments. It's unfortunate that you are experiencing difficulties. Have you isolated the cause yet? Nice to hear about the outdoor grow doing well. I haven't changed anything or added anything. Just water/check/adjust heights/ LOW does of nutes/ observe. Seems to be working fine for now. I'll post updated images later today.

    The Flower Room:

I decided that I will complete it on the eve of transitioning the strongest females from this bag seed grow. Also, I plan to upgrade my lighting next. The fluros are decent for vegging, and from all of my research I have settled on going with a 600w HPS for flowering. I decided on a 600w because it is said that scaling up to duals is much easier and effective for decent sized grow areas. I am working on locating two that will fit right into my space perfectly. (the perfectionist in me peeking out) although I will only purchase one to start.

    Technique...
My problem is i gave them no nutes...just water.....for 3 weeks......with no nutes at all in the soil.....but it all started with ph out of wack which probably gave me nute def. in some areas....i think i got i worked out...started small dose of fox farm 3 part.....plants look to be pulling out of it.....probably lost a week...but its a learning process..But on the 600w hps......Bro....it tell you search digital ballast on Ebay......I have not seen one 600 digital ballast sell for more than $110 in the last 3 weeks.....trust me they are even selling for as low at $70 brand new lunitek 600w switchable digital ballast...im bidding on 2-400 digital ballast....im sure they wont go above $130 for both. good luck on the lighting
