Hot Spots??....................
I see these mentioned all the time but cant find a defention.
can they be a problem with low temp CFL lightbulbs?
My walmart emergency blanket is NO WHERE near flat against my walls. Couldnt find mylar in my area.

You don't have to worry much with CFL, unless you get into the real high wattage ones. Just make sure they stay an inch or two away from stuff.

I believe hot spots can only be caused by HID's. I've had them. There is a diffuser out thats about $30. I plan to use one next time to evaluate. As for definition??? I guess I'd say it's a spot where the plant receives too much light concentrated on a small area. You would probably only see this with 1000 watters.
