actually I think you just filled in the missing piece of the puzzle right here.

When using distilled water, which is what you should be using and not purified water, you must add CalMag to your mixture. Distilled water contains no calcium or magnesium like tap water does. So you must supplement it.

Which is why you saw the magnesium deficiency before. You fed it with epsom salt which may or may not have relieved your magnesium issue but due to using too much epsom salt you may have created a lockout situation. Too much magnesium can lock out calcium uptake (which you have some in your soil even if you don't have any in your water).... which in turn due to lack of calcium it can inhibit your plants uptake of potassium... which in turn would lead to a potassium deficiency.. etc etc.. and it's just a never ending downward spiral from there.


Which is why I thought I saw multiple symptoms going on there.. hence leading to me cry "rootbound" prematurely.

If you are supplementing with calmag then I'm once again way out in left field; but I'm hoping this is what your problem is so you can get to getting those plants healthy again. :thumbsup:
