At precisely 2:14 pm next Tuesday.

The leaves you want to use for butter are the 'sugar leaves' or 'bud leaves'- the same huigh quality trim from which you'd make hash. Using leaves, do a double or even triple run of butter- make the butter as directed, then use it to run ANOTHER batch of trim leaves- you need to do this because leaves obviously contain far lower levels of psychoactives than bud.

Can you use leaves from a plant that is vegging? or does it only produce THC in flowering stage?

Plants CAN produce psychoactive compounds in veg stage, but the levels are very low, and it's not worht the bother. Also, avoid removing leaves from a plant- it needs them to make sugars for itself.

If you are going to store them for a long time, it is easiest if they are dry. If you are making the butter right away, just use them as is.
