How should the Tories tackle drugs?

I do think there is a case when cannabis is being used to alleviate severe and chronic pain that the law should be flexible," commented Mr Johnson, who is the Conservative candidate for the London mayoral elections.

The Tory party has supported the Government's plans to take a harder line on cannabis by reclassifying it as a Grade B drug, although David Cameron describes himself as "relaxed" about legalising cannabis for medicinal use.

As far as harder drugs are concerned, the Conservative leader has previously said that he would not rule out a scheme to create safe rooms where addicts inject themselves in controlled surroundings, to curb the level of overdoses.

How do you think the Tories should tackle drugs? Do you agree with Mr Johnson that cannabis should be legalised for medicinal purposes?

Read some of the comments that some of the people have made about cannabis, some have even suggested death penalty.

Please everyone post in and fight for the right for cannabis, you do not have to leave your address or sign up. Just simply add a comment.

Come on people, lets finally make a stand. Every bit helps.

    Peace

I despise Gordon Brown, he's going to ignore the scientific evidence and his own government advisors to re-classify cannabis to B. Fuck him. He's only trying to be hard on drugs, it's only political, this isn't a democracy, where's my chance to vote on these important issues? I'm glad Boris the new mayor, i hate Ken livingston. This article is postive, but the issue remains that people shouldn't be imprisoned for consuming cannabis, whether recreationally or medicinally. Maybe one day it'll happen but i doubt it any time soon, amsterdam can't come soon enough. Thank goodness for at least 1 tolerant country in the world.

It's farcical the way politicians use this subject almost to elevate there public persona.

Done bad in the poll's Gordon by any chance??

Every year the same debate, and at the heart of it is this belief that weed leads to harder drugs... What a load of rot!

The last thing on my mind when I'm high is shooting up!? More like where are the cookies I'm starvin! Lol

Like i've always believed. Cannabis should be legalised and sold in Amsterdam type coffee shops where tokers can go and light up, socialize, and basically just chill out after a hard days graft. It would certainly be better than the rowdy atmosphere you get in a pub filled with beer monsters.

The torries will say one thing and when they get in they will do something different. It is the way with every government when they get into power. The media sways some public opinion and the government jump at the chance to agree and make policy based on this to appear popular.

Well first off, i hope gordon brown steps down as prime minister because he has really messed his chance up now, The 10p tax abolition & now the cannabis reclassification, to name a few.

Also, David cameron say's he "might" legalise cannabis, yet that is the tories game every year, they say they'll do something radical just to get the attention of people, then when they get into power, they just mess things up further.

Back to the point though, I think we should have Amsterdam type cafe's, just to go in, buy some good, quality controlled Weed and just relax, like someone qouted earlier, how often do you see people Fighting & Vandalising while high?

Although, saying that we should have Cannabis Cafe's, surely that would go against the indoor public smoking ban But hey, forget that
