First Grow on steroids... How much to expect?
A life in danger. Time is running out. She will hang for what she's done.
How much weight can I expect from her?
Here are the details and some pics. More pics to come tomorrow right after the light goes off when my camera is charged.
My friend is growing legally. I helped..
He started with a 2 bucket dwc system with a massive air pump (rated for an 80 gallon fish tank). Let me start by saying how lucky we were to get one male plant and only one female! Look at the pics and you will see why I say this...
I will describe the cabinet. It's tiny. I underestimated, but it works. It's about 32"wide x 17"deep x 72"tall. The 2, 5 gallon buckets barely even fit in it. There is a 250 cfm, 6" duct fan on a homemade carbon filter coming out the top of the cabinet, as well as a 6 inch air inlet at the bottom.
We have a 400w light. MH for veg and HPS for flower, of course.
It is ducted with another 250cfm 6" duct fan from outside the cab, and out the other side on the top ("top" for reasons explained later). Since the air to cool the light comes from, and returns to the room, i have a box fan in the window blowing in cool air from outside. Starting in veg, the light stayed about 12 inches above the top of the plant throughout its life until 2 weeks into flower.
At the canopy, it stayed close to 85 during the day and about 70 at night. Humidity was low (30-40% with my homemade humidity unit). Not much I could do with 0 inches of space.
To help with the high temps I added a ghetto CO2 system. This consisted of a 1 gallon jug half filled with water and sugar with yeast added. I capped it and routed an air hose right between the plants and the air inlet so it would get sucked right up into the foliage.
We started off with a handful of bagseed from pretty commercial grade in the 2 operational buckets with hydroton. Didn't start the seeds, didn't transplant in any way. I realize it's not the best way to do it, but it worked quicker than previous tries with other ways. There were about 20 choices in each bucket.
Now the fun stuff:
Every time, RO water was used for 50-100% of the mix, depending on how much time I had, as it takes over 2 hours to make 3 gallons with my filter. I have good tap water anyway, about 125 ppm.
Nutrients for veg:
GH 3 part
cal-mag+
thrive alive b1
pH kept at 5.7-5.8 as much as possible.
The seedlings grew for about 7 days before they were ready for vegetation. At this time we applied a foliar feeding spray every other day which consisted of Dr hornby's Colossal Bud Blast (it sounded promising). This continued until 2 weeks into flowering. They were allowed to veg for 21 days under the MH. The plants were 32" tall when we switched to 12/12. Unfortunately I switched to HPS at this time as well, which caused a few problems later.
One was a male and one was a female. We pulled the male and made cookies:thumbsup:
I should note that they would have both been female, but I noticed a small light leak next to the plant which ended up being a male, as I believe in Zandor's theory of controlling the environment to predispose sex.
Nutrients for flowering:
GH 3 part
calmag
b1
northern lights fat flower
bc awesome blossoms
pH:5.8-6.0
Now at this time, the light had only about 4 inches to go to reach the top of the cab. I had not planned on the mad stretching that would occur during the next 2 weeks. This stretching brought with it a host of problems that we had to deal with.
In total, the plant grew to be about 65" tall, so I started with the LST a week into flower. The light was raised as high as it would go. All the separate tops grew up to the same level where they would finish out the weeks about 4 inches away from the glass. This brought our temps up to above 90! To counter this fastball I hung 2 CPU fans from an old computer and it brought it back to the previous temps. No lower branches were removed because we wanted clones. Clones were taken at week 6, by the way, and so far, so good.
This raising of the light also meant that I needed to reroute my ductwork for it. The outlet goes out the top and the inlet is pretty much flush with the light, in fact it created a light leak. So we had to make the room dark.
At week 6, we tried adding Cha ching. We only added it at 1/4 strength and we cut back on the NL Fat Flower to compensate. She did not like this move. Black spots and purple stems told me too much P possibly causing a lockout of other stuff. No more cha ching this time.
Week 7 was cut short after 5 days and the nuterients were replaced with plain RO water and a full dose of Humbolt's Gravity. We should have done this sooner but I neglected to do my research. This is planned to continue for one more day, bringing the total to 3 days. The lights could only be raised about 2 inches, so I tightened the strings and pulled the tops down about 3 inches. This is nowhere near the 8-12 they recommend, but we didn't have many options. PH only stayed between 5.5-6.0 for about 2 hours at a time.
This is where we are currently. 7 total weeks of flowering. The plan is to start flushing with flora kleen from tomorrow until harvest, which I am estimating is about 3-5 days away.
I estimate that because I have a 60-100x microscope, and during the last few weeks, I have developed an extremely creepy, bordering on unacceptable relationship with each individual bud. And I noticed that most buds have 90% cloudy 10% clear trichomes. Nearly all the hairs are reddish brown, except for the tops which are still mostly white.
I should note that at this time, nutrient changes are impossible to do with only one person. When the plant is taken out of the cabinet, it takes one person holding all of the branches together and one to lift the bucket out. After the change, we have to stuff it back into the cabinet like a fat chick's FUPA. I did not realize we were growing a monster shrub!
What I am wondering is the burning question of all first timers...
How much can we expect?
I like to believe that I am not simply a first timer just screwing around, but rather I got a ton of information from a mentor with a lot of experience, so I seriously hope for more than .25g/w.
Let me know what you think.
Again, These pictures are from a cell phone just so you get the idea. I have a 3mp camera that is charging. I will post more pictures tomorrow when we take her out of the cabinet.insaniac17 Reviewed by insaniac17 on . First Grow on steroids... How much to expect? A life in danger. Time is running out. I'm with Clandestine: when in doubt, choose the answer to life, the universe, and everything.

Yeah I don't think I've quite made it to the 3g/w mark yet... But I like the wishful thinking.

Here are some more pics. I thought they would be better quality, but apparently my camera is about as good as my cell phone.

Sorry to be a snot. I just get tired of people asking how much their grow will yield, so my default answer is six. There's no way to tell, there's just too many variables. I can tell you that a plant the size of yours in my grow would probably yield a couple ounces, maybe 3 or 4, but probably not.
