heheh, hopefully chilling the water for rooting clones won't be needed, the water temp is supposed to be a tiny bit warm until roots have started to come out.
GreenDestiny Reviewed by GreenDestiny on . newbie hydrocfl experiment this is something i started back in Feb. and i'm not exactly what you'd call 'organizized' so note taking has been sporadic at best. in doing this (posting) i hope to get help with problems i encounter, and believe me, i've not only encountered several problems, i've gotten a LOT of useful advice. i also hope to help or inspire others of us still slogging up the learning curve. mostly though, i do this because i find that i enjoy growing immensely, i find it truely relaxing and there is no Rating: 5

Careful with too much warmth though, it'll up the chances of mold greatly. I just bought a little heater for my cloner that automatically keeps the water at 78, which is just perfect for a cloner reservoir. Don't forget there are also aquarium chillers. Try to keep the clones and the reservoir between 76 and 80 for best results.

I thought I needed the temps to be 68-70 degrees?? My water now is at 76 and is never higher than 80. I dont have any mold/mildew or fungus growing, but every once in a while the roots brown a lil. Using 3 tsp. grow big to every gallon of water.

gonna try the frozen bottle trick and hope it works out.

Opie's right....clones you want a little higher then larger plants with water temp.

Opie...did you buy that little heater at Foster and Smith? I use those automatic ones for my aquarium and love them.

Bozo i like the dip and grow for a rooting thing that Stinky talks about and i've definitely had the best luck with that.

Opie mentioned something about the rooting "gels" sort of sealing out the moisture in the cut end and I think so too. The dip and grow is water based and soaks right into your cutting. You may want to try it for your clones.

thank you all for your encouragement and comments, criticisms too.
the truth is Weed, i'm not using ANY rooting hormones although i have a jar of Rootech gel that i used when i was rooting in rockwool starter cubes.
and i know it's too soon to tell yet but the new cloner i built has been doing awesome, got 17 of 18 rooted with the first run! cloner has a 2 gal res into which i put 10ml of ThriveAlive red and 2 drops of Superthrive. i also got some Hygrozyme (thanks for the tip Opie) and i'm adding about 2ml of that too.
i'd welcome any advice on the Hygrozyme and it's usage.
it looks like i'll finally be able to start to flower for sex within a week.
could use some advice regarding strains and seedbanks, i want to spend some of my 'economic stimulus' money on some quality genetics for my next grow. i figure it's poetic that the federal gov will be financing my meds for the future. LOL

anyway, i'm rambling so, toke amongst yourselves

    bozo,
    peace, love, dope

the key is to understand the principles, then you just apply the principles using whatever raw materials come to hand. LOL, ghetto engineering.
i think i'm at that place where i understand well enough to be dangerous, LOL

anyway, i hope to begin flowering for sex within the week so look for some pics of my DIY air scrubber as soon as i get a door set in place (lol, gonna use cardboard and velcro)

Velcro! yeah that's the stuff I always forget about. I just gotta remember it for when I can get around to building a little stealth cardboard growbox.

and holy crap I never noticed Opie's signature until just now!

well, i'm almost at that day when i can begin sexing my plants and i can't wait. i now have 6 with multiple clones and 4 more in the process of root development (lol, i hope)

here are some pics of my new lights (lol, i bought them a month ago, just now installing them cause i didn't need them. i bought them to flower with).

i figure, with 8x40watts (6x2700K and 2x6500K) that gives me 320watts over 2 bins, i hope that will do the job, lol

check out the price of those fixtures! i got them at a local discount builders supply that sells a lot of close-outs and over-stocks.

that's 2 fixtures for less than $10.00 plus 8 splitters that i think i paid $1.50 each at Walmart!

that breaks down to approx. $11.00 per fixture. way cheaper than adding clamp lights, one at a time and for anywhere from $5.00 to $10.00 each. the clamp lights i already have (i have 6) i'll use for mommas and supplimental side lighting.

    anyway, toke amongst yourselves
