Group 4 guards jailed for stealing £10k they were protecting

Group 4 guards jailed for stealing £10k they were protecting

    May 3 2008

TWO security guards who stole £10,000 they were paid to protect have been jailed.

Group 4 Security workers Gary Docherty, 41, and Hugh Drummond, 47, grabbed £5000 each from the Royal Bank of Scotland during a pick-up.

They struck after Drummond noticed the money box he had been given at the branch in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, was not properly secured.

But a superviser foiled their scam as soon as they made the drop off at the bank's HQ.

The men were jailed for six months each at the city's sheriff court yesterday. Sheriff James Scott said the "gross abuse of trust" deserved jail time.

Docherty, of Clermiston, Edinburgh, and Drummond, of Harthill, Lanarkshire, had admitted theft.

Haha, that's pretty dumb, if they really wanted to get the money and not get caught and had been a little more clever they would have staged an inside job robbery that they were supposedly unable to stop then once they got away later divided the money up.

...And that concludes today's lesson in better organized crime brought to you by Ghosty, your friendly neighborhood terrorist
