Looking real good JJ, like you said the canopy almost looks like a scrog. Pruning the plants seems to be effective in improving yield from what I've read, just started doing a little the last couple of days (I've just started 12/12) I've cut off the bottom growing shoots that aren't gonna get much light and some of the lower leaves that are looking pretty dead.

I would not cut anything off your plants. I never do unless there is a leaf shading a bud, and I just can't bend or tie it out of the way. Another option is to top, but you only do this if you want more bud sites, and shorter, bushier plants. Seems like you already have enough bud sites. If you have more, they will be smaller and yield about the same.
I'm glad you found something that works for you, but I'm sad you have to make more skewers. From your pictures I don't see why a screen wouldn't work, then you could make a nice even carpet of buds and get the most from your lights. For watering the plants in the back, you could have a funnel attached to some tubing. Once the plants grow around the screen you can't really take them out, but this has never been a problem for me.

Thanks, I do enjoy being hands on with them and using the stakes, but its a lot of work
I 've pulled down and opened up more of the branches to light, how long should I continue to stake the branches down ?
Is there a point when it becomes counter productive ? In looking back at my past photos, I think Ive gone from about 15-20 bud sites exposed to direct light to over 100, will all these buds still develop ?
Im sure Ill be using a screen in my future grows though, who knows I might try and place this one I built in there again this weekend

It's up to you, but the longer you veg the more you'll yield. I like to fill in my screen as much as possible, or in your case I'd like to fill up the canopy area as much as possible, which looks like you've pretty much done. I try to fill in my screen about 75% before switching to flower mode. There is no one right way to do it. It's just what works for you. Eventually there will be no more room for any new shoots. Remember that once you switch to flowering, a plant can double or triple in size.
Is there a point when it becomes counter productive ?
Yes, it would be counterproductive if you already have a thick even mat of canopy, and there would be no place for any new nodes, or shoots. It would also be counterproductive after a few weeks into budding. Once she starts budding up good, you should stop bending or tying down branches.

That's the idea, expose more of the plant to the light and you'll get more bud sites. Id say 100 is probably enough. You can make as many as you want, but the more there are the smaller they'll end up. All bud sites exposed to light will develop, but the ones lower down on a stem develop slower and end up smaller than the ones at the top.

heres where we 're at as of today. Had a bit of an accident this morning and left the incand. light bulb on in the room for a few extra hours.....:wtf:
So i hope i didnt fuck everything up, this is the frst time i've ever interupted the light cycle, and it was only a 60w incand bulb at least 8' from the plants.
anyways, they have taken to to the training well and are budding up good now

What do you all think about adding a few warm CFLS in with the plants to get light to the underside ?
