phosphorus def..or not??PLEASE HELP
Hi All
2 days ago I transplanted my girls. They were in a tight place where I couldn't see them very well when they went into the bigger pots, but I think I would of noticed this. They were moved to a bigger area today and this is what I saw.
age: about 4wks
soil: vortex lady bug 2/3 & 1/3 perlite
feed: fox farm grow big, 1tsp/gal & foiler spray liquid karma every other feed.
lights: all fluros..as close as I can get without burning
I have done the research and it looks like phosphorus deficiency, but there isn't any crispy leaves. I am awaiting my ph reader since I am out of strips. I had a ph problem a couple of weeks ago, it was too high. I got that cleared up so maybe I have the problem again with possible lockout?? I know you can't say until I am able to check ph, but should I maybe flush while I wait? It seems to be spreading quickly. I have 3 plants and so far this is only on one. Please any of you who maybe have a clue fill me in...
thanks

phosphorus def..or not??PLEASE HELP
Definitely get a reading on your pH when you can, which is something that's important to know, but it almost looks like you may have had a fluorescent tube resting on those particular leaves, judging from the semi-straight line on surrounding foliage. If it continues to spread to other leaves, you can rule this out, but if you don't see any signs of progression, then you may have just burned the leaves there the fluoros were accidentally touching them. You can do a flush, but at 4 weeks, it's not always necessary. If you haven't been using your nutrients but for a short time, you probably don't need to flush. If you do, make sure to follow it up by feeding with a complete fertilizer at 1/4 strength. (You know the drill! :jointsmile

phosphorus def..or not??PLEASE HELP
ahh Mr. Clandestine to my rescue again. I couldn't fall asleep so I thought I would check. It is funny you said that. My hubby moved the girls while I was at work and I looked at them before I went to bed and I was thinking the same thing. He is asleep but I will sure be asking him in the morning. The weird thing is the dark spots feel velvety soft instead of crispy. I will keep an eye on them and thanks for responding.:rasta:

phosphorus def..or not??PLEASE HELP
Hopefully that'll help you figure out what's happening.
Maybe the lights were just touching the leaves for a brief period, which possibly caused them to discolor, but not get crispy outright. Like I said, that almost seems too uniformly in a straight line to be a deficiency. But that's just me judging from appearance. Definitely give us an update when you and the hubby have a chance to get a good look at them. And definitely try to test that pH as soon as possible. That velvety look does sort of look like the early stages of Phosphorus deficiency, so don't rule anything out until you can test the pH.
Have a good evening.

phosphorus def..or not??PLEASE HELP
That looks very suspiciously like mold/boytriytis to me. (sp?) That's one of the reasons I dislike foliar feeding unless its' something I can ONLY use that way (next time put the LK in the water.)
Velvety soft also fits mold and so does "spreading fast." Get a good funal spray like Serenade and use it asap....if that really is boytriytis you're probably already too late. Also lower room humidity as much as you possibly can. Dry things out.
PS....do the affected areas tear VERY easily? Just looks like mold to me.

phosphorus def..or not??PLEASE HELP
O.K. hubby confirmed lights laying on plants while he was adjusting them. I admit it does have the weird color all the way across the plant even in the new growth. But why is so soft feeling instead of crispy?
And Weedhound... the leaves do not tear easily. I thought it was spreading fast because the color is on so much of the plant, but it is in a row. If it is this fungus you speak of, will it continue to spread? and if so how fast? and I would assume a burnt plant would not be spreading anywhere. and if it is burnt, do I just trim the burnt stuff off and hope for the best?
Thanks for the help

If it doesn't tear easily then that's good. Mr C's thought about lighting would be my next thought as well....especially consdering the light WAS touching. When did you first notice this?
