Hi, this is my first post on the forums, even though i'm on here on an almost daily basis ^^. :rastasmoke:.
I'm a frequent smoker, and just recently decided to grow my own weed. I'm at university and next year i will have a small appartment with a (he is ok with it all (he pretty much doesnt give a fuck bout anything ^^)) cabinet in my room (for clothes etc).
I was planning on making this into a grow cabinet and growing some sharksbreath seeds (a bag of 13, with 4 plants growing at a time).

I plan on using a 600W hps lamp with a digital ballast. That's the core piece. I have a friend who grows almost every year (been doin so for about 8) and he's gonna help me out for the setup, but i was wondering what i would need for the setup.

I'm trying to stay below a 300 euro budget (300 dollar ^^). I already have the seeds. So can you all help me make a growcabinet cheap? . How much would it cost?

Oh and is a 600W HPS with ballast very energy consuming? would it raise any suspitions for the landlord? :s. Also, would the smell be too strong? Is there a way of masking the scent in the room?

Thanks in advance for all your help :rastasmoke:.

PS: It should be quite stealthy, just in case the landlord pays a visit in the main room, outside mine.

normally the landlord should never pay a visit, but you never know :rastasmoke:

Fergot to mention, i'm going for a 250 gram yield per plant (thus the 600W HPS), trying to make the best of my sharksbreath seeds ^^. So that has to be taken into account for the materials. I can maybe go a little higher in price, but not by much :s. :rastasmoke:

Was also thinking about an original homebox, are these any good? (will avoid cutting into a cabinet that isn't mine ^^).

Btw, am I doing something wrong? :s. Nobody seems to be replying, so if i'm making a mistake (like not presenting myself, not posting on other threads or something like that) please tell me, it's my first post so I probably made one and would like to remedy to that ^^. Sorry in advance :rastasmoke:

hi mallower, they don't seem too attentive here but there is still lot's of info here, you just have to dig for it. i'm new to growing myself so i can't answer many of your questions from experience as i'm only on my second grow but i can try to help and if nothing else, i should be able to point you in the right direction. i must say though, the guy you know personally is your best source of info, first, you know him and second, he sounds like he should know his shit.
i would suggest that you do a thorough search through the FAQ's, you'll have to dig but it's worth it, get a copy of Jorge Cervantes latest book too, that guy know's how to grow.
anyway, for what it's worth, i'm here and i'll try to help if i can

    peace, love, dope

There is a ton of info here and since your questions have been asked thousands of times, you probably wont' get much help until a worthwhile question is asked....

    however...

First of all, if your friend has been at this for eight years, he should be able to answer all your questions and tell you exactly what you need.

Secondly, 250gms/plant....good luck think more along the lines of 10-20gms/plant dry.

Third, consider the growing medium, ventilation, nutrients. Read a lot about these as light is not the ONLY part of a grow.

Fourth, if you are conisdering keeping moms for clippings, you will have to revisit your space. keeping enough moms and clones to fill a cab requires considerable space.

    Fifth, it WILL smell.

Sixth, find a post by Stinkyattic, read the ENTIRE link in her signature about 5 times, and any other of the thousands of posts she, yes she, has put up.

Seventh, think long and hard about growing in a property that is not yours.

Eighth, good luck. I wish you well..

Thanks alot for the advice, i've read her post now 3 times thru. My friend is going to teach me everything and help me setup the room, but only in september, that's why i'm asking already . So that i can have a really good plan before starting and try to maximise the plants yield .

And one last question, because i haven't found anything about it yet, searched the forum.: Is a homebox good? Space, reflectiveness and yield wise (its a 100x100x200 (cm) sorry for using belgian measures). I think i'll invest extra in it . And sorry for asking questions that have been asked alot :s. Thanks again :rastasmoke:
