first season growing outdoors, how much to plant?

ok ive grown before, but only in a unit and not for a few years.
its my first season growing outdoors and i just moved to n.c. the southern fascism scares me a bit but im willing to risk it.
i have got around 20 seeds of super strains ranging from buddah puna to sensi star. and like 10 seeds of bubblegum, blueberry and alaskan red hair.
A friend and i are working with an area of about 40 acres, and his new g.p.s.
he knows more about the science behind the boteny, i concentrate on the spiritual aspect of it.
well anyway im rambling as i often tend to do.
my main question is how many plants can we plant and still be reletivly safe?

also any tips on keeping it hidden would be apreciated. ive heard of people growing it in buckets in trees... any ideas?
    thanks

i live in a real harsh environment so we expect a high casualty rate, so plant them all and tie them down. Now drought, you can use self watering pots, get a paint bucket, bunch a hole in the bottom about the size of a small cup pass through about a 1 foot strip of pure cotton sheeting, place this bucket inside another wich is a quarter full of water and nutrients, this is called the wick system and the plant gets water from the cotton through cappilary action- very effective but the pots can be a little bulky.
Alternative get water crystals and stirr through the soil, good but if you get to much rain the fuckers can cause root rot.
I have always prefered the wick system, like a hydro out doors, can put fertilliser in water but its better in the soil as it can do funny things like turn high ph or develop new never before seen life forms. Hope that helped

outdoor growing is by mother natures daylight hours
u can use this link to find out the exact time and days to go by

if you do your homework you can tell the week your plants will start to sex
(find when daylight and dark hours are equal)to remove males in time

for me its Summer. . . June 21,
you should have some nice buds growing by FALL . . . September 22,
