Are you Proud?

Im starting this thread because I think too many people out there that smoke marijuana dont speak up. How many people actually are open to telling people that they smoke marijuana? I believe that too many people go unspoken about this subject.

Why not be proud?? Why not tell your family that you smoke marijuana? I believe this is a major subject leading to the social acception of marijuana. If everyone talks about it a little more, society will accept it more as an every day normal thing that normal people do. The laws and people against it may make it nerve wrecking to talk about and often causes people to conceal their habit and never talk about it.

I would just really like to see more support out there for the social acception of marijuana. Why not have more stickers out there? Why havent I seen anyone else writing 420 in huge letters on their car or truck to celebrate 4/20? Lets let people see that this is normal!

I will openly tell people about it if they ask me, unless it was a cop obviously but even then i wouldn't care as long as i had nothing with me.

But i don't try to "convert" people, but if they say something retarded i will justify my opinions

I dont believe in pressuring anyone to do anything, Im just saying for example: A group of friends standing around talking in a public place like the mall or a park or a store or whatever... Someone brings up the subject of marijuana and people start whispering about it like they are going to get in trouble if someone hears them or people are going to think badly of them. I just think that we need to decriminalize not only laws, but tone down the social "thats bad stuff and only bad people do those things" bad image that exists of us and MAKE it a normal thing by treating it like a normal thing.

Smoking is one of the biggest issues now. Thats why i think people don't like to talk about it a lot. Also because its a "drug".

he was the nation's first drug czar and the man responsible for today's mj laws. he spent his career lobbying against pot and i hope he rots for it.
anyway HighTy, you're right, too many people hiding from the law, if everyone that smokes decided to take the day off from work until the laws were changed, well, i think you get the idea

I'm open about it, but I don't advertise it. Maybe those against it aren't ready to try it.

And I do see "advertisements." A lot of people wear shirts showing they're proud. I see symbols everywhere. The number 420 comes up a lot.

The only people I can't tell that to are my parents. They know I smoke, but they do not approve. And since they fund the majority of my tuition for college, I think it is best not to shove it in their face.

But ya man, I totally agree. If people ask me, I tell them. And if I hear an ignorant and misinformed statement about marijuana/marijuana smokers, I set them straight. This plant is not evil and it is not wrong to use it. People who use it wrongly are the problem, not weed. I just think most people are brainwashed by the government. But ya man, we need to spread the truth.

I let everyone I know that I toke. I'm a fairly rednecked looking sounding kind of guy and I think its important that other people see that its just not the stereotyped potheads that are smoking. And its amazing how many people I run across that either toking or thinking about toking. I even occassionally give out free samples to people that seem trustworthy along with a basic education on smoking technigue. I've run into a couple that will just sit there a smoke a whole blunt for the first time and keep complaining that it isn't doing anything. A half hour later they're unconscious.lol

I'm open about it to everyone, including my family. I don't advertise it, but if I'm asked or if a discussion comes up I have no problem telling others about it.

I think I've opened up a lot of eyes, especially with my family. When they found out I smoked they were pretty dissappointed/angered, but I explained to them my justification in doing so, and explained to them that most myths propogated about marijuana are entirely false, I think they see marijuana in somewhat of a new light. My parents have since said they would smoke it if it was legal.
