so say i bought a bong (or water pipe) from my local headshop, i then bought a bag of tobacco and smoked the water pipe full of tobacco right infront of a cop. He couldn't do anything about it right?

what if i had a big circle of friends just passing it around right infront of him?

oh and say that this was a fresh clean bong, no marijuana residue or anything

Absolutely technically...no. I dont believe he could legally do anything. But he's NOT going to be happy or think its funny, and it will only mean trouble for you.

I've thought about doing it too man, would love to see the look on his face right?

A lot of states have "disturbing the peace" or similar statutes that the courts are allowed to interpret very broadly. Unless you were in a hookah shop or something I could totally see a cop citing someone for that... given that a bong is 99% of the time associated with illegal drug use.

Then again, perhaps nothing would happen. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

I would think you would probably just get hassled and searched... and I think the search would be legal too, under probable cause.

My dad was a cop for 15+ years. He told me a story of these 2 people on a street corner of a busy intersection that were smoking out of a hooka. He stopped, checked it out, nothing but flavored tobacco, so he left them alone. simple as that.

how about we smoke real ganja in front of a cop. I did at a concert and they left me at peace :-D Probably because hundreds of other people were smoking also :rasta: Deep down, they know it doesn't hurt anyone. Their just trying to do their job really. Many states have made it their lowest priority.

I wonder if I would get busted for posession and for smoking in public. Considering here, in san diego, el cajon, your not allowed to smoke ciggs in public. I wonder if it's only ciggs?
