My #$*&@# Seed Won't Hatch...

Ordered some feminized church seeds from a different company and can NOT get them to pop. So far I've had one in an RR for 5 days and it did ZERO now the second one is about 10 days old and taken out of the rr and has been soaking in water for the last two days with STILL no luck.

Any Ideas? I'm ready to take a hammer to it. :wtf:

Not a hammer, a nail file. Scuff it a little. If it still won't germ, and your conditions are good, get in touch with the company about replacements. Hint: Look at the breeder's forum on ICMag and see if there are low germ rate complaints on that strain.

Stinkster I didn't check the germ rate but I will now. I DID check into the company itself (the only company that had F Church/send to US etc etc).... and they themselves got VERY good reviews but i'll go look the germ rate thing up.

My second one....it feels pretty soft....like it's going to go but it WONT GO! How long should I wait with it?

that sucks, i can NEVER get fem seeds to germ and they cost a lot of $$$

Hey, I have been advised to bite the end of the stubborn seed in helping it to crack...they put the seed in their mouth and work it around and then gently bite it..give it a shot...Good luck...

Thanks everyone for the tips. I actually took a pair of needle nose pliers and popped it.....but can't really tell if I helped or crushed it. It took a bit of pressure to pop so I have a feeling it may very NOT have popped on its own. I stuck it in an RR and watered it. Some water HAD gotten insde the shell.....the inside was soft....but.....well we shall see. The biting thing may well have worked better than the pliers in thinking about it....thanks Treetops.

I'll try the nail file thing next time before I add any water......

Hey Girl, Sorry to read You are having trouble's!!!! After this many Day's??????Odd's aren't looking so well. :wtf: Hope they make it right.:wtf:

The point of the nail file is to scrape off a bit of the waxy protective coating on the seed, and scuff the hard shell, so that it may absorb water better, not to actually crack it. Be gentle with seeds! I can just imagine you with your teeth clenched hissing at the thing CRACK DAMMIT and a pair of vise-grips in your hand... hahaha
