Jeremiah Wright May Have Just Sunk Obama's Campaign
The entire tone of the race changed the moment we saw the first fiery Wright sermon. The sight of those sermons triggered a question in a lot of voters' minds: How do you get the moderate-sounding, pleasant, agreeable student Barack Obama from an angry, divisive, radical, way-out-of-the-mainstream teacher like Jeremiah Wright? The sermons weren't quite a deal-breaker, but many Obama supporters, leaners, and undecideds were asking... how did Obama choose this man as a mentor? How could he possibly not know that his mentor had these attitudes? And does Obama agree with any of Wright's inflammatory statements?
In response, Obama gave a very eloquent speech about race relations in America. But it never quite answered the question, and in fact tried to blur the distinction between family we are born into and those we choose to turn to for guidance. Hillary jabbed at this in the debate, and Obama never quite had an appropriate response. He even said he disowned Wright, then backtracked and said he disowned his controversial statements.
And since then, it's gotten worse, even with a Bill Moyers interview that wasn't softball so much as it was Nerf Tee-Ball. We've heard Wright compare the Roman Legions who punished Jesus to the U.S. Marines, we've heard him argue that the U.S. and al-Qaeda are doing the same acts under different flags, etc.
Now we hear Wright analyzing the differences between white and black brains (!) and that the criticism of him for his comments was "an attack on the black church." He didn't retract his assertion that the U.S. government created the AIDS virus. He didn't retract his accusation that the United States had committed terrorism. He raved about Louis Farrakhan.
And again, we're left with that question... presuming Obama strongly disagrees with all of Wright's statements in these areas... how did he end up selecting this pastor? This church? (I know we get the story in Obama's autobiography. But did Obama once agree with all of the crazy conspiracy theories? Does he still agree, late at night, when the microphones and television cameras are far away?)
Obama is saying he should be president, instead of two much more experienced rivals, because of his superior judgment. But what kind of judgment is needed to select Wright as a surrogate father figure?
The Campaign Spot on National Review Online
Obama was just on the tube stating NOW that Wright wasn't his "spiritual mentor". NOT a good idea considering his book "The Audacity of Hope".
IF he doesn't sink to Clinton he'll definately fail with McCain.

Personally, i have never seen the press so sweet on any candidate as they are on Obama, yesterday giving him step by step instructions as how he could do some damage controll after the Rev. spoke, i am AMAZED that they are still treating him as they are. I am glad to see he finally got his dander up and said something today, i mean, wishy washy is not what i like to see in candidates.
just my opinion, but the hilldog looks like the best for the job so far.

we'll see. i think bush fucked up bad enough that it is going to be a democrat no matter what. but hell the american people have done dumber. what is a bunch of dead soldiers who have nothing to show for their service and hundreds of billions of dollars wasted and a ruined economy have on an angry black preacher. the sad thing is nothing, that was proven when bush was reelected, so youre probably right.

Yup.
Months ago I didn't believe it did do much damage, but Rev. Wright ego had to get in the way.
Obama is getting cooked well-done. The only way Obama can save his campaign is if McCain comes out and says he's gay.
That's pretty much the only circumstances!

I still don't understand what the big deal is. I haven't read anything that Rev Wright said that is that bad. He seems to take the viewpoint from poor black people. Its not unreasonable that poor black people would share some of these viewpoints. I think quite a few white people share these viewpoints.

^ yeah, you know honestly, i feel the same way as the last comment. to borrow from a Chris Rock line, I don't agree with what the Rev is saying but I understand why he is saying it. you really can't fault Mr. Obama for it. that is what preachers do, they say outragous stuff that some people like to hear. its just showbiz.
imp:
i remember when i was a kid i heard this preacher go on and on about how television was a portal straight to hell.seemed outrageous to me at the time but now that i think about it . . .
:stoned:
oh yeah speaking of hell's portal Hillary is going on O'Reilly tommorrow. :rasta:

I have a feeling Obama will most likley win, just a feeling.I also think if he wins Luis Farkon will be in his cabinet with Jerimeiah Wright:upsidedow:.Now unless something happends before Bush leaves office(he can set-back the elections if we are terriost attacked are in war with Iran!)I believe much more stupid remarks and hate will come out possibly from John Hagee for Mccain,or mabye Bill Clinton or Chealse, she is stirring up shit from what pepole claim on the campiegn trial!I am honestly believe NONE of them could say our falling to shit country, pepole forget the oil reserves we have still in the doller and if Iran was able to produce enough or MORE of what Iraq, kwauitt, and some in Isreal then they could easily ban with the other countries and make us pay in Euro!!

I don't think this will necessarily ruin him. The press really loves him and people are memorized by his speeches and shit.
You know who else gave great speeches?
HITLER.
But anywho, he just denounced Mr.Wright on t.v. so who knows what in the hell will happen now. It's Hillary's move now.
