The Objectification of Women In The Mainstream Media
You see it all the time, most predominantly in Hip-Hop/Rap culture. We've all heard the media's response, and we've all heard the rap political answer. "It's just music. We don't shy away from the truth." While I think this point is valid, I also know pain when I see it. And somewhere y'all, there is a stripper [using hard drugs] in order to take her mind off of how she makes her living. Somewhere yall, there is a rapper [using hard rugs] in order to take his mind off of how he makes his living. This goes way beyond gender ever could. Has self-exploitation actually become a REQUIREMENT to making it big in our society? Speak up!

Why would a rapper [use hard drugs] to get away from his awesome life. Being rich and famous is not nearly as much of a burden as being poor and having a hard job. If a rapper is doing any drug, its because he has the money to afford it, and he wants to get high. Thats all there is to it. Also, saying that just because someone is a stripper that they hate their life is a very broad generalization. In fact, I don't think that its a terrible thing that women are objectified. These women still have people in their lives that are close to them. If they are stripping or dancing in a music video, they're putting themselves out there to be looked as an object.
Last thing, its not like men arent objectified also, anyone can be objectified.

All people are notoriously unhappy. There's many people who struggle with addiction. The only reason you think that is because you can see what goes on in their personal lives. If you looked at everyone's lives you would see thats its not because someone is famous that they are unhappy, its just because they're people. People are naturally unhappy.

I love it the first thing when there's something wrong with society"Oh its case of these rappers"
Objectification of women has been around forever. Its in movies, television, ads, everything. But yet everyone is so quick to blame rappers. Its an easy copout to blame someone else
Its the fault of these women that are putting themselves in the position, nobody elses. Women or anyone know that they can make it big through hard work but many just choose the easy way out by exposing their bodies or making themselves look like fools for a quick buck.In life you have to demand respect to get it. If you dont respect yourself, do you think anyone else is?
And people dont take drugs just to run away from life or becasue they are unhappy. Its because alot of them just find it enjoyable. By your concept, you only smoke marijuana to run away from life.

You just gotta learn to tell the difference between going out and having fun every night, and actually having a problem...........

Just an official FYI... it would be a good idea to re-familiarize ourselves with the site posting rules, which do not allow any discussion of specific hard drugs. Since we don't have the staff to decide whether to allow it on a case-by-case basis, there's a sweeping no hard drug talk rule. I've edited the first couple posts to remove specific drug references and made it clear [with brackets] what parts are not the original text.
Thank you in advance.
