That's not very accurate because you can be arrested even if you refuse field sobriety tests and don't give any samples. A smell of marijuana in the car can easily lead to being arrested for driving while under the influence.

If your body was totally clean and you smoked, it usually takes 4-8 hours for the metabolites to appear in urine. It can be as quick as 2 hours though.

The officer smelled marijuana and arrested my son (he's 17) for operating under the influence. He collected a urine sample and it is being sent to a lab to be tested. My question is how long after marijuana is smoke will it show up in urine. My son is very athletic with no body fat, assuming he is telling the truth that he hadn't smoked for a few weeks, I am wondering if the test will come back positive. Rating: 5
