Male or Female?
ok, really quickly because i dont want to jack this thread...males are COMPLETELY USELESS except for pollinating females??? so theoretically i could buy seeds from a bank and have them alllllllll be male, and not have anything to smoke at harvest? i thought they both bud?

Male or Female?
yer good point eyesmohk (i dnt mind thread jackin! aslong as its relevant) does anyone know if what eyesmohk just asked is correct?
i dnt think males are completely usless... although if yr growing you should keep them seperate as ive heard they can change the sex of other the plants! maybe they would be worth keeping if you wanted to polenate the females so you have a supply of more seeds?
whats yr opinion on this stinkyattic if you wouldnt mind telling us id be intrested know. thanks

Male or Female?
The presence of males does not cause gender reversal in cannabis. Sex is determined by the presence or absence of a Y chromosome.
Males are completely useless unless you want to make seeds.
Males of exceptional strains may indeed produce resin, but so little that they are a wicked waste of space and you'd have to smoke a lot of garbage to get high. The part on females that is prime smokage is the calyxes, and males have none, so you'd have to smoke leaves... harsh and unpleasant at best.

ok coool that clears alot up thanks stinkyattic. can i ask now another few question? im going with the NL u suggest as it is forgiving on first timers. im planning to make a growroom to house 2 plants (dont want it too stinky i live in a apartment complex). im guessing i should be about 4ft width by 4ft length and from what i hear of NL stats 5ftmax to accomodate, do you think those dimensions r ok? (if the leaves do start touchin the sides does tht effect it bad?). i jus want to check i have everything i need bfore i start and tht i understand the process. obviously its a learning curve and im bound to make mistakes. second question what are the lighting time i need to use? ive ben readin but i cant seem to find out what the hours are prior to switching to 12/12 (which as i understand you do to encourage flowering after the veggie stage..which im not quite sure when to distinguish when that is yet either! is that after i can see pistels? or after i have 5 levels of leaves?) thanks for your help, if you cnt manage to write a reply to every question its cool! a few lines would help out big time cos i can yr clearly a well versed grower!!

Read this. Really.
The plants and their pots and soil will stand as high as you let them. You can train them to stay short, but you still want a grow area at least 6 feet tall so you have room for lights and ventilation. It's okay for the leaves to touch the sides.
Use a light cycle that gives at least 18 hours of day per 24 hour cycle during veg. You can even go to constant light.
NL is not too smelly as strains go but still you might find yourself getting a carbon filter (do it as soon as the first guest to your apartment starts sniffing the air like a hungry dog; guests will smell it before you do) so plan ahead to get a decent exhaust fan.
