    Who do you trust?

I hope this is the appropriate place to start this thread. It seems to be the cardinal rule to NOT tell ANYONE that you are growing. I will be setting up shop in the near future, it's just a personal grow for myself and my wife and perhaps my father in law. Basically my father in law is an old time hippy.....he participated in the riots in Berkeley back in the day. He's a sensible, compassionate long haired Zen Buddhist who is quirky, irritating and endearing. He's also been known to fly off the handle at things which I'd think shouldn't phase anyone. He will also ALWAYS give whatever bud to me and my wife that he can.....if he has enough for two bowls only he will still give us half....even if he doesn't know when he'll score his next bag. Now, the guy is on a limited fixed income and he spends about a quarter to a third of his income every month on pot. When I started planning this grow operation it was my intention to grow enough to keep the three of us in the green without having to pay. I guess I'm just worried about letting him know.....I've been planning on just kicking down whatever whenever he needs.... I don't know if any of you can help with this.....I want to help him, just pretty nervous about him knowing and I'd rather not give him the power to ruin my life if we were so inclined....

If you want him to be in on your hobby, maybe you should have your wife present it to him as something that she also gets a lot of satisfaction from. I told my dad, and he is very supportive of MMJ activism, even though he does not smoke himself. He's just happy I've found something that makes me happy, and isn't that what any dad would want? Who the heck would turn in his own daughter? Just make it very clear that he is not to continue on the gossip chain!
Involve as few people as possible, but I understand that sometimes you have a close family member or lifelong friend who you are willing to take that risk for.

Eh man don't worry about it. It's no problem! I get enjoyment out of watching us all learn together. Oh... and banning assholes... MWAHAHAHAHAAWAA!!! (just kidding)
The rep thing is that little scales symbol over your post count. Check whichever little circle you want to leave for rep.

good luck with your endeavor friend. im sure all will turn out well. i mean, youre married to an old hippies daughter. i think if you told him youre safe because he wont go spreading around the information. no one wants their daughter to get in trouble. as for anybody else, i think your circle of three is about the most people youll be wanting to tell

so im looking back over my post and i realize i pretty much wrote the same thing stinky did. ahhhh i hate when i do that nobody likes a repeater sorry guys!

If you have any doubt about your father-in-law, don't tell him where you are getting your pot (or that you are growing it). You'd expect people who have something to loose wouldn't turn you in to the cops (or tell someone else who you'd get "in trouble" with, such as your landlord).

If someone has weak impulse control, they may just BLURT OUT something in a moment of distress which could hurt you (and/or your grow operation) without blurting it directly to the cops.

So, if your father-in-law will miss-out on free pot by disrupting your grow operation, then you'd expect (in a rational world) that he'd use his better judgment and NOT talk.

If in doubt, just keep the source of your pot to yourself.
    :detective1: Why search 1st?

    :google:
Google Search for <word> in a particular website at <url>:
    <word> site:<url>

For example, search THIS site for posts about carbon dioxide:
    carbon dioxide site:cannabis.com

or, to search for \"nutrients\", but ONLY in cannabis.com/advanced-techniques:
    nutrients site:cannabis.com/advanced-techniques

Now, go out and tell everyone you know!

Hi Mushaboom, thanks for the warm greeting and sound advice. I think you are both right....it's unfortunate that I cannot be more open about this endeavor with my friends as well, but the security of this project must be more important than my desire to 'show off' (lol, once I have something to show off). But yeah.....I don't think he would blab or rat.....and he really could use the nugs. And honestly he's pretty involved in our lives that it would be a challenge keeping it from him. Besides, we'll probably want a 'baby sitter' from time to time I imagine... Once again I thank you, its great to have input from folks who have been around the block a few thousand times. Cheers.
