Gotta plant problem help!!

ight i got 8 plants and like 5 of them have like at least 2 or more dead leaves. am i not giving them enough water or is it because ive been playing with the light schedule. i also have this one plants that has like white shit on the dirt ever time i wipe it off its like cottony short of. does any1 kno what im talkin about. thanks
