    Cloning in pure water?

    Hi all,
I wandered has anyone tried to clone in just water? In the past I have rooted other plants this way, and Breeder Steve of the Spice of Life Seed Co. claims that "Clones can be effectively rooted using nothing more than water". Source
However I have put 3 cuttings in a glass of water and I expect success. I will post the results afterwards.
I will apreciate comments if someone has tried this.

    Cloning in pure water?

I use well water (same stuff you poor suckers buy from Dannon and Crystal Geyser), a light colored ceramic cup and a bit of foil! I poke holes in the foil cap, stick in some cuttings, and wait. No hormones, no aeration. Primitive, but it works. I lose maybe one out of 20 clones- which is satisfactory for me. -Granny:hippy:

Exactly what I thought Storm Crow! Why then all this complicatet stuff with cloning hormones, growing cubes and shit! I should admit that my cuttings in water look better than these in the rockwool (with clonex, and soaked in water with diluted root stimulator)!!! And yet, there must be a reason - maybe in water it goes slower?

Exactly correct.......cloning in plain water is always successful but the time in which the roots form is much longer then the aeration and use of hormones. I root using a homemade dwc system but using just plain water and I have new root growth in as little as four days

crisekris man, that sounds bloody great! I am thinking of setting up a reservoir with water + airpump inside and disolving some clonex hormone and some root stimulator in the water.

Actually you don't need any hormones with a bubbler bucket type cloner. Just keep your water temps in the mid-70s and wait a week
