Think about it in reverse. If you had a home and your kid was doing something you didn't approve of (whatever it might be), would you pay for their upbringing and expend all that energy and time and then just let them do whatever they want? Your house, your rules, her house her rules. Simple as that. (and I know some smartass will bring this up, so no this doesn't apply to abusive parents who are physically, sexually and emotionally abusing their kids).

That's a bad attitude to have. A parent does not own their child no matter how much the child owes to them.

I'm very grateful for everything my parents have done for me but if I had to be tracked by my parents and have my dad watch me take a drug test every day I wouldn't stand for it. That's not the way to raise a child; part of being a parent is being reasonable.

No wonder everybody has a therapist.
