    Mr. Peanut Blows It Again!

JERUSALEM - Former President Carter said Monday that Hamas â?? the Islamic militant group that has called for the destruction of Israel â?? is prepared to accept the right of the Jewish state to "live as a neighbor next door in peace."

"They (Hamas) said that they would accept a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, if approved by Palestinians and that they would accept the right of Israel to live as a neighbor next door in peace," Carter said.

Carter urged Israel to engage in direct negotiations with Hamas, saying failure to do so was hampering peace efforts.
Carter: Hamas is willing to accept Israel as its neighbor - Yahoo! News

Al Jazeera's Jacky Rowland, reporting from Gaza, said that Hamas' willingness to continue to secure a peace deal, implicitly reflects the group's recognition of the state of Israel.

"This effectively pulls the rug from under Israel, as they have constantly maintained that the reason they will continue isolating Hamas is because they will no recognise their state. The ball is now in Israel's court."

But Hamas did not respond to Carter's requests that it halt rocket fire on Israeli border towns and agree to talk to Eli Yishak, the Israeli deputy prime minister, about a prisoner exchange.

Over the weekend, Israel killed seven Hamas fighters in a series of air strikes after the group detonated two jeeps packed with explosives at an Israeli crossing on the Gaza border.

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) â?? Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal says his militant Islamic group will not recognize Israel.

But Mashaal says Hamas will accept a Palestinian state on Palestinian territories occupied by Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war.

The statement amounted to a tacit acceptance of Israel's right to exist alongside a Palestinian state, but without explicit recognition of the Jewish state.

Earlier, former President Jimmy Carter said that Hamas is prepared to accept the Jewish state's right to "live as a neighbor next door in peace." Carter met twice with Mashaal over the weekend.

Carter's meetings with Hamas officials only legitimize Hamas and weaken Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas [Abu Mazen], said veteran Israeli journalist Roni Shaked from the Hebrew daily Yediot Aharonot.

Better solution: Revoke his United States citizenship, and ship him over to Iran - where a lot of this bullshit started as a result of his administration's numerous major screw-ups.

As usual Isreal needs to get its head out of its ass and try to promote peace for a change. This was all palestinian land to begin with. Isreal stole it from Palestine. They will never be at peace because they both have a fucked up religion that doesn't promote peace. They just need to build 2 fences with a 5 mile demilitriazed zone in between. Then maybe the rest of the world could have a little peace for a change.
