MALE MOFO
i threw a seed in the ground back in february... it grew to be a male, but it smells pretty good. its about 30 inches, and theres a ton of those pods hanging from where the hairs would be, some have opened like a flower. i thought males are supposed to produce seeds!!!! only thing that sux is that i have a girl growing about the same height, shes aboout 30-40 feet from the male; theyre both outdoors. will the guy make good seeds that i can plant or should i just kill it? please

MALE MOFO
The male plants make pollen, not seeds. When the male pollen gets on the female flowers the female turns that pollen into seeds. So the seed actually forms on the female flowers, not the male flowers. Its just that the female needs male pollen in order to make those seeds. She will not make seeds if she never gets male pollen on her. Think of it like human sexuality... the pollen is like the sperm from the male. When that sperm gets on the female, she makes a baby (baby = seed).
The female flowers get sticky with resin in order to make the pollen stick to them. The pollen is very light and can travel in the wind for much further then 40 feet. If you leave both your plants then the female will be pollinated, most likely. I don't know for sure if she will be, but I would say it is likely.
The reason people say to kill the males is because when male pollen gets on a female flower, she stops making as much resin. If she never gets pollen on her she makes more and more resin because she is trying like hell to attract pollen. But once she is pollinated, she focuses on making a seed instead of on making resin. The resin is where most of the drug compounds that make weed "strong" is. So female flowers that have not been pollinated make the best marijuana. But given the distance involved, perhaps your girl will not be overly-pollinated, so she might make both good amounts of resin and a few seeds for you. The more seeds she makes, the less resin she'll make. The less seeds she makes, the more resin she makes.
Having her make a few seeds may not be a bad idea if you think she has good genes (and the male does too). That way you can grow more with your seeds. If the males flowers have already opened, he is probably already releasing pollen.
