Hey every1, my lemon skunk is now on day 18 flowering and i was thinking about pruning a certain branch. It's almost a foot and a half away from the cfl bulb and i dont think its going to do very well and i thought maybe i should just prune it, the first pic is the offending branch and the second is the plant its on, the rest just some of both my plants.

you know I'm going to say go ahead and prune it. CFL's don't have much penetrating power as it is and I feel that it's far more important to keep an even canopy than it is under HID lighting.

This way you it becomes easy to keep the lights as close to ALL your plants or all areas of your single plant. Creating more bud growth to the entire footprint as opposed to one cola that is taller than the rest of the canopy.

day 18 isn't too far into flowering. She'll likely bounce back without any issue. Be sure that if you cut that cola and it's hollow.. to stick a toothpick in the hollow part. Last thing you want is to be vulnerable to infection.

I wouldn't do anymore pruning after this though. After this I'd consider you well into flower and beyond the point of no return.

How much of the plant are you going to be pruning? 1/10th? 1/3rd? etc etc.

You really don't want to trim more than 1/3rd of the plant at any given time.. and during flowering I'd even say you wouldn't want to prune more than 1/8th of the plant, just to keep stress to a minimum.

edit: I just looked at the pictures again and answered my own questions. Yeah, cut that little bugger off. If you have any other pruning you want to do it now. Beyond this I wouldn't suggest pruning anymore as you will be well into flower.

I wish I had done some trimming before I past my 3rd week of flowering. It's given me maintenance/watering headache ever since.

Ive just cut that branch and might do the one above it, other than that im really pleased with how they are doing. the bitches strectched about 6" when i changed the lights, i stayed at my gf's for a few days and when i came home i was astounded! i really wish i could tell what yeild to expect but im hopin for around an ounce of each plant.

to reduce stretch and create more compact buds mix in some 6500K CFLS with your 2700K-3500K Flowering CFLs. I'd say a 3:1 Red:Blue ratio would be more than plenty to help keep things compact.

Also, theyre very hard to find but not to expensive to buy, if you can find bulbs rated at 2100K color temperature then get those. Very red/orange light. My plants are loving them (under an hps) and the buds are rapidly just getting fatter and fatter.

An ounce each plant is very doable in a cfl setup. Good luck! :thumbsup:

Sadly i lost my job 3 weeks ago so buying new lights is a no-go, the plus point being that im going on holiday just after harvest so it'll dry nicely for 2 weeks then i can cure it and keep a bit out to smoke. 2 oz between them will be well spicy
