I have been reading about aerogarden grows and wanted to contribute my experiences and ask for advice.

Purchased the Pro system to get the 24/hr lights. Pitched the nute tablets that came with it, and tried the GH line, which the plants did not seem to like. Tried adding their Diamond Nectar and then Floralicious plus which is too thick for the system. Got great germination, and in veg plants did pretty well, except for the brown spotting on the leaves, which then die. Switched to a nute called CNS17 which they seem to like better and is easier to use, I also add superthrive and change the tank every 7 days. I do use 'shield' from GH to prevent root rot since the roots are in water all the time. Keep ph around 6, use r/o water. Have mylar on the walls around the system and a fan going all the time. Started with 24 hr lights then dropped to 21/3 until flowering time. The brown spots have been making me crazy,, thought it was a potassium problem so added some extra, no change. Made the nutes weaker, no change.

Purchased a deluxe system for flowering as the lights are stronger.. took a long time to go into flowering, and now the leaf problem is far worse than it was in veg, plus the leaves are curling under too, they look pretty sick and am not getting many flowers. I only have 3 plants in the system and even that may be too many as the light area is pretty small. At least the deluxe system is twice as tall, 24" in height possible, but with the small light area it is still hard. I'm wondering if the light is just not intense enough, but right now do'nt have a way to supplement the lighting and am trying to make it work as is. This has potential if I could just cure the leaf issue.

I did pinch them back once in veg, but with the new ones started in the pro I may do more pinching and less plants.. this is an experiment in progress. The new ones in veg are doing ok except for the ever present leaf spotting and dying. I am thinking this is related somehow to the method of having the roots in the water all the time, is it leaching something out, or creating some other unknown problem unique to this system? Today I added an air wand in case they need more oxygen.

I have grown in soil quite successfully so this is frustrating for me trying to figure out what is causing the brown spotting/dying off of the leaves. I live in a small place and the size of this sytem is great as is the fact that it doesn't cost much to run.

Can anyone help me re the leaf spotting and dying?
