Are there any problems subing in certain states?
Hi everyone,
I'm sorry to be making so many threads about an upcoming UA. But my wife's test is looming in 2 days, and it being for a really great job, we'd/she'd hate to lose it for something as stupid as a blown piss test. We've considered dilution, she seems to do pretty well testing on home strips, using this method. But when it really comes down to it, substitution seems to be the only 100% sure way of passing (that is if you get the temp right)
So here's my question: Has anyone ever encountered any problems using a subsitute in a state which deems that practice as illegal (possibly a felony offense).
These states include: Arkansas, Illinois, Maryland, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and Texas - we live in IL and are a bit fearful that perhaps they test differently in these states, maybe conduct an analysis to see if the urine is synthetic. (which her sub would likely be)
Any help, or insight from anyone who's had success subbing in these states would be great.
Thanks again - have a good day, guys and girlsDrPotomus Reviewed by DrPotomus on . Are there any problems subing in certain states? Yes it's illegal in all states with varying penalties. Also, in some states, mainly the ones you mentioned, it is illegal to sell devices that defeat drug tests but there will be some 3rd party vendors who still sell them but use the guise of saying these items are for religious practices or fetishes or gag gifts/pranks, etc.
If it is for employment, hardly any collector is going to call the polices if they catch you, it's just too much trouble. If it is for probation you can bet your ass the judge will find out. Wouldn't want to be caught by and government child and family service either (custody cases, etc).
The last time I really heard of anyone getting in trouble was some idiot or idiots stopped at a gas station and nuked a whizzinator in their microwave. The way the write about it in the news they make it sound like the whizzinator exploded with such force the microwave flew into the air and landed on the ground. What is closer to actuality is the "bladder" got too hot and the liquid popped it and it went all over the inside of the microwave. They were charged with vandalism or something similar (who wants that microwave now huh) and made stupid criminal news everywhere.
No, these states aren't adding additional tests to look for synthetics. Look at how many people use it and have posted their successes here. It's a game between the labs (you think they don't know about Quick Fix, etc) and the makers of these synthetics as each tries to stay ahead of the other. The markers will update their formulas to stay ahead of the labs when the labs add new tests (across the boards, not just in one state). Creatinine clearance is mainly used to detect dilution but when they started testing for it, Quick Fix updated their formula from 3.0 to 4.0. That's just one example.

I didn't think the labs are analyzing for synthetics given the number of success stories I've read about on here. But I believe the anxiety of this test is getting to us, it's to the point where we are clearly over thinking it and most likely over stressing it.
It is a employment analysis, so in reality the worst case scenario is the job just doesn't work out. There is no fear of jail, loss of children etc.... But that said, it is a good position, one which my wife would truly like to have, and there is nothing wrong with being well prepared and having a good understanding of the process and possible problems she may encounter. Having the correct knowledge is a big part of being successful.
It really is unfortunate that having a trace amount of THC in your body from mild indulgences nearly a month ago, can have such effect on your ability to obtain a job, after all the resume and cover letter writing, weeding out of literally hundreds of applicant, stresses of multiple interviews and reference checking your fate can come down to something as silly as this. But what can you do, it is what it is....
Thanks again, we really appreciate your help.

[quote=bullitt]Great Point, Killer is right, untill the first sub, you are so nervous that it won't work, but as long as the temp is good, you will pass. Where in Illinois are you taking the test??[/QUOTE
My wife has been practicing like crazy. I think she's got the subbing procedure down pretty well right now, she's going to conduct a few more practice runs today, just to ensure the whole process feels like second nature to her. She's got a good feel for obtaining the correct temp, and maneuvers. But you're right, this being the first time, she has a bit of anxiety about the whole thing, although we've thought this through so much by now, I think she/we are just looking for it to be over.
She is also going to run a dilution the day of just to keep her options open. She ran one yesterday afternoon, and again tested negative (very conclusively - very dark lines) on the home test. 3 for 3 - negatives on the home tests, I like her odds eitherway, so she's got options. Anyway I'll check back in, just to keep everyone informed.
And again, thank you guys so much for all the help, it really is incredible kind of you to come on these boards and help people like us out. Being knowledgeable and well prepared really brings peace of mind, when you find yourself in these stressful situations.
