flowering with florescents?

Ok i am trying this 8 lowryders . I took 2 -2'x4' floresent light with 4 bulbs each they are the sides. The i took 2 4'x1' they hold 4 bulbs each. a total of 16 40watt cool whites. a total of 640 watts in a 2foot high 4 foot long area. each plant is in 2.5 gallon containers.this is the first time i will use all flouros the flower. I will let you know in about 8 weeks what i yeilded.. does anyone have any comment on whether this is a good set up?

u'l see they will work. but get the flowering flouros,plant and aquarium types and GE chromas.They all have the red,orange and yellow spectrums.

I thought the idea was to have more wavelength at the blue end than the red end?

No the lumens isn't the most important factor. Lumens is a measure of visible light, it's a measurement based on human eye not how a plant uses light. PAR is a much better measure, photosynthetically active radiation. It takes into account which portions of the electromagnetic spectrum a plant uses to drive photosynthesis. You could put a plant under a billion lumens of green light and it won't grow at all because all the light is reflected off the plant.

Ya your right about that philly i was just assuming i guess that most average people would not be using a green light lol . You know exactly what i meant smart ass just givin ya shit philly is correct on that also

that combo will work fine...and if u want to add blue spectrum,get an actinic 48'' growbulb,about 30$ each

thank you i have done them under hps. very nice bud taste and smokes well .thought i would try this. had lights laying around from construction job.Into weeks 2. will post update.
