? about advertising
So i am a patient in Long Beach...and i have been noticing lately more and more billboards around town advertising medical marijuana doctors for people to get recommendations..which is fine....I'm glad to see word is spreading and meds are being thought of as a normal thing for people to do....however..
i was curious what you all think about the way its advertised...the billboards i see have pot leaves and tie dye swirls and junk all over them that make medical marijuana seem like its a big joke.....rather than making it respectable looking for people who are not so much into the marijuana culture.
I think i big step in getting medical marijuana across the states is for people to realize its not a joke....and for people who aren't into it as much as we are...to at least accept it as a smart alternative to much worse legal drugs.
i was curious what some others thought about any of these billboards....not all do it..for instance..ACC seems to make all their ads very professional looking, with a small leaf, but not a pink floyd show in an ad.....while others are like i said...kind of a goof.

I think you have a very good point!
I don't live in Cali, nor have I seen these billboards, but the way you describe them it would piss me off as a 'serious' activist, lol. It's my same complaint about pro-cannabis festivals and other events on the East Coast- often, organizers choose speakers and musical acts that simply encourage the sterotype of the hippy dippy pothead, alienating those of us with a more professional image to maintain. It's sad. I think of it as akin to tabloid style- sensationalism gets attention. Buying into that thinking just reinforces that cannabis is something to be discussed in hushed tones out of your boss' earshot.
