A little Help with the Drip

I'm using hydroton in the pots and I put the plant in the rock wool in the middle of the hydroton. Im using GH nutes

I want to know if I can leave the drip going all the time when the light is gone?

Right now it is watering 4 times when the light is on and 2 times when off. Spread out evenly. each water is 20 min long.

The plants are doing fine, growing good.

Do most growers leave the drip on when the light is on?
    I am growing Brainstorm (Northernlights X Haze) and Ak-47 X C99

A little Help with the Drip

I used to water my plants on a schedule like you, but then i desided to water constantly, because I think it is better to keep the water moving all the time - in nature streams are always cleaner than still water. Also in my opinion this spreads more evenly the liquid through the system and I always know that the PH and concentration of nutes in my reservoir is the same as at the roots of the plants. My plants are growing very well. Just make sure to aerate well.

A little Help with the Drip

I drip my plants 24/7 during flower with GH nutes. Lakewoods recipie actually. During veg....about 10 min/hr, then add 10 min to each week during veg. I adjust this schedule as required...I let the plants tell me if they need more...but that is the general schedule that I follow during veg. Young clones with small roots don't require as much feeding, but as they grow larger, root systems are able to take more waterings.

    Hope this helps..

A little Help with the Drip

You can go all the way up to a constant FLOW over hydroton, 24/0, and your system becomes NFT. It's a really sweet way to do hydro, and that's what I run myself. I've got some threads in the grow logs section that show the potential problems etc. with that setup.

A little Help with the Drip

I gradually reduced my drip timing to about 15 minutes every 2.5 hours ... any more often, and the cabinet humidity gets awfully high (I'm sure that varies widely with ventilation efficiency) ... I read a thread on another website, where a Texas hydro grower swore on his best growth with a much drier condition, getting more oxygen to the roots ... I dunno, just thought I'd throw that line of thought out there ...

You can do that with air stones too, or with an unconfined return that cascades into the res instead of through tubing.
    Oxygen is GOOD.

I guess that's what I'm doing now ... I have big airstone in main reservoir, plus one in every pot ... and 24 hr. re-circulating into top of containers, and back ...
