How does mass create gravity?... I was just day dreaming and I ended up on the moon. So I know gravity is keeping me on the moon but how does it work?

Agreed. It's all theory, which mostly stems from two trains of thought: Newtonian and Einsteinian. Newton's theory of gravitation has to do with a gravitational 'force' surrounding any body of mass, and the laws that falling objects seem to adhere to. Einstein's theory of general relativity states that gravity is subject to the curvature of time and space, not force, and that objects fall in the direction of a geodesic path. (A logical straight line determined by the curvature of space that any massive object follows during free-fall.)
Physics always confused the hell out of me, including all the theories and propositions that backed up the study of it. My favorite explanation to all these questions still stands strong: "It just does."

have u ever put a bowling ball in the middle of a trampoline then rolled some other smaller balls around on the surface? If not give it a try. This is a simplified way of illustrating how gravity works reletive to an objects mass. The surface of the tramp is like the fabric of space/time being curved by the mass of the bowling ball the other balls fall toward it because it's mass is greater. Does this explain why gravity works the way it does? Sorry no. So i guess Coelho's answer was the most direct one.
Still give the bowling ball thing a try it's just fun.

There's been some recent theories that mass creates a condensed field of gravitons, and these are a sort of linking halfway-point between 9 of the 10 dimensions. The theory also postulates that this "dilution" between all dimensions, as opposed to other forces like electro magnetism which are in our realm, is why gravity is the weakest of the 4 universal forces.
Nothing to do with why mass creates gravity, I know, but I found it to be one of Brian Greene's more interesting tidbits (not that they aren't all interesting).

Mass doesn't create gravity, i was watching the universe yesterday and they were talking about the largest stuff in the universe (which is 'parently the galactic web or somthing) anyways there is 'dark matter' which has gravity but no mass

I've got a question for you intellectual bastards...if gravity holds us to the earth, and also gives us a sense of up and down, in a way, then why dont people in antarticta or other places below the equator experience a constant upside down sensation?
